  • Patent number: 4083420
Abstract: Parallelly spaced apart shift rods are interlocked by balls between adjacent shift rods. Plungers are mounted on respective shift rods and received in bores communicating with a source of fluid under pressure through a valve which, when closed, blocks movements of the rods. The valve is opened when the driver sits on his seat and wears his safety seat belt, to unlock movements of the plungers in their bores as well as movements of the rods.

  • Patent number: 3971265
Abstract: The fork rod is provided with a step. A force tending to disengage engaged gears produces a moment which causes pivotal rotation of the fork rod, so that the step engages with an abutment formed on one of the fork rod supports preventing gear disengagement. A spring-biased detent ball disposed within the support restrains vibration of the fork rod and maintains the rod in proper position as well.

  • Patent number: 3945458
Abstract: A plurality of spaced apart parallel shift rods for changing gears have interlocking plungers arranged between adjacent shift rods and separating pieces positioned between adjacent interlocking plungers in alignment thereof and contained in transverse bores of the shift rods. An actuator acts on the plungers to normally lock the shift rods. The actuator is disabled when the driver performs a prescribed safety operation, for example, wears his safety seat belt.
