    Abstract: There is provided a color display unit having a wide range of color reproduction and low power consumption, with a simple structure, and without causing element deterioration. The display unit comprises light source means for generating blue light, a color conversion layer having a red color region for converting the blue light generated by the light source means to red light, a green color region for converting the blue light to green light, and a blue color region for transmitting the blue light as is, arranged on a flat surface, and a pixel switch structure for turning the blue light ON or OFF for each of the red color region, green color region and blue color region in response to an image signal.

    Abstract: To brighten a screen of a liquid crystal display device in the case of reflection type display and increase the planarity of a color filter substrate surface to improve a display quality. The liquid crystal display device according to the present invention includes a reflective film formed between a colored layer of a color filter and a liquid crystal layer to thereby prevent an incident light in the case of reflection type display from passing through the colored layer. A color display is available in the case of transmission type display, and a black-and-white display is available in the case of reflection type display; an image formed with light not passing through the colored layer is viewed in the case of reflection type display to thereby ensure a brightness in the case of reflection type display. In addition, the reflective film can be formed to be thin and therefore the planarity of the color filter substrate surface can be improved.

    Abstract: To detect a line position described on a surface by a simple structure, the line position detecting apparatus comprises a light beam generator including a laser diode, a collimator, a prism, and a mirror; a motor for rotating a laser beam to describe a circular locus on the surface; an encoder for detecting a laser beam angular position; a photosensor for detecting a laser beam reflected from the surface; and a calculator for detecting an angular position at which light beam intensity changes due to the presence of the line at at least one point of intersection between the line and the circular locus and for calculating the point indicated by x-y coordinates on the basis of the diameter of the circular locus and the detected angular position of a line to be detected.
