  • Patent number: 6963331
Abstract: The invention aims to provide a coordinate input apparatus having high detection reliability and high efficiency and to control the influence of ambient light using a simple structure. The apparatus detects a light spot flashing on and off in a predetermined cycle and incident at a desired position on a coordinate input screen, and includes a detection device having photoelectric conversion elements corresponding to N pixels for detecting a light spot coordinate. The difference between signals from photoelectric elements in light emission state and in light non-emission state at each N pixel is found, and the smaller of the difference signals of the m-th pixel having the maximum difference signal is set as a threshold value. Effective pixels are identified based on the threshold value, and the coordinate is calculated by using the difference data of the selected effective pixels.

  • Publication number: 20050200613
Abstract: Angle information corresponding to a specified point is calculated on the basis of a change in light amount distribution obtained from at least two sensor units which are arranged on the corner portions of a coordinate input region and receive incoming light. The coordinates of a pointed position on the coordinate input region are calculated on the basis of the calculated angle information. • Patent number: 6906702
Abstract: A device has a plurality of linear sensors which are arranged for at least one coordinate axis and detect the beam spot. The levels of detected data are measured by a sensor controller, and the measured levels are compared. Based on the comparison result, the detection result of one of the plurality of linear sensors is selected. A coordinate computation unit outputs a coordinate value corresponding to the beam spot on the basis of the selected detection result. The light-receiving areas of the linear sensors have an overlapping portion.

  • Publication number: 20050097581
Abstract: A recess (16a3) is provided to be continuous with the circumferential edge of a tray recess (16a2) of a disk tray (16) housing an optical disc (28) to allow a pickup (45) to move without contacting anything. A cover section (17c) having a substantially tongue-like shape adapted to the recess (16a3) is projected integrally from a rotor support member (17) covering the tray recess (16a2) from above and defining a substantially cylindrical housing space (18) for coaxially housing the optical disc (28), the cover section continuously covering the recess (16a3) of the disk tray (16) and the housing space (18). Even when the optical disc (28) is rotated at a high speed, flutters attributable to airflow or a difference between pressures on both sides of the optical disc (28) can be reduced to allow the optical disc (28) to rotate with stability.

  • Patent number: 6847356
Abstract: A device has a projection type image display unit which has a projection lens and generates a coordinate input screen, and linear sensors for sensing an image of a beam spot, and computes a coordinate value corresponding to the beam spot on the basis of information obtained by the projection type image display unit and the output signals from the linear sensors. • Publication number: 20040021645
Abstract: Position coordinates in a space defined by the first to third axes of a coordinate input pointing tool are calculated. A coordinate output form includes at least an absolute coordinate output form in which calculated coordinate values are directly output, and a relative coordinate output form in which the differential values between the calculated coordinate values and predetermined coordinate values are output. The value of the first axis of the calculated coordinate values is compared with a predetermined value. It is determined whether the coordinate values of the second and third axes of the calculated coordinate values fall within a predetermined range. The calculated coordinate values are output in a coordinate output form determined on the basis of the comparison result and determination result.

  • Patent number: 6664954
Abstract: A cap covering a light-emitting element attached to the distal end of an indicator is held by a sliding member, and is slidably attached axially along the indicator. By pressing/separating the cap against/from a coordinate input surface, a tact switch operates interlockingly with the cap to switch driving control of the light-emitting element. For example, the light-emitting element is driven by pressing the cap, and driving of the light-emitting element is stopped by separating the cap. Since the cap covers the light-emitting element, the light-emitting element can be prevented from being worn and scratched. Driving control of the light-emitting element need not be additionally switched, resulting in high operability.

  • Patent number: 6611258
Abstract: In a pen-input computer or the like, it is impossible to distinguish an input method and to execute a proper process according to the input method. A touch panel driver generates finger-input coordinate values for a display screen. A digitizer driver generates pen-input coordinate values for the display screen. A processor receives the coordinate values and additional information indicative of either the finger-input or the pen-input from a source discriminator, starts an inputting process according to the input method, and allows a virtual keyboard to be displayed onto the screen or allows a “CHR input pad” window to be opened.

  • Patent number: 6570558
Abstract: An influence by a vibration which is transmitted in the air is reduced, thereby preventing an erroneous detection of coordinates or a deterioration in a detecting precision. An elastic resin sheet is arranged on a coordinates input surface side of a vibration transmission plate so as to have a gap between the resin sheet and the vibration transmission plate and is fixed by an adhesive layer. When coordinates are inputted by a vibrator pen, namely, when a vibration is inputted, the resin sheet is warped by a writing pressure of the vibrator pen and the resin sheet comes into contact with the vibration transmission plate. Therefore, the vibration applied by the vibrator pen is efficiently transmitted to the vibration transmission plate.
