  • Patent number: 8025534
Abstract: A method, system and apparatus for efficiency coupling a LTO HH tape drive device having a Serial Attached SCSI connector to a SAS-Cable. The method for coupling a LTO HH tape drive device having a Serial Attached SCSI connector to a SAS-Cable includes employing an adapter having a structure featuring an offset between the centerlines of the LTO side and the SAS-Cable side. The method also includes reducing the overmold structure of the adapter on the SAS Cable Side of the adapter to prevent interference from excess structure contained on the connector during the insertion of the SAS Cable as well as enhancing the overmold structure of the adapter on the LTO drive side of the adapter to facilitate a secure grip on the adapter.

Date of Patent: September 27, 2011
    Assignee: International Business Machines Corporation

  • Patent number: 6928497
Abstract: When a device ID of a second, or subsequent, host computer contends with a device ID of another device that can be connected to a SCSI bus, a reset signal (RST) is applied to a SCSI control bus input of the contending device. The contention is determined by detecting whether a terminal power of the second, or subsequent, host computer is active.

  • Patent number: 4922238
Abstract: A method and apparatus for independently and dynamically performing smooth-scrolling a display line at a time is disclosed herein. An offset value for smooth-scrolling for each display line, is provided which shifts the image information of each display line by pixel. Rewriting of the screen according to the offset value is performed in synchronization with refreshing of the display screen. Selective smooth-scrolling can be performed for a displayed image in each display line, and complicated and various image display can be shifted by controlling the existence or nonexistence and speed of smooth-scrolling for each display line.

  • Patent number: 4873514
Abstract: In a CRT display system, its screen is divided into a least two partitions or viewports for displaying different data groups, and characters in one of the groups can be vertically scrolled bit by bit in one of the partitions. The partition to be scrolled is defined by line attributes assigned to successive rows of the screen. When a raster scan passes the scrolling partition, a line count output of a (scan) line counter is modified by adding a content of a smooth scroll offset register to the line count. The modified line count is used together with a character code as an address for a character generator. By gradually changing the content of the offset register, the characters are vertically shifted smoothly in the partition.

  • Patent number: 4868554
Abstract: A raster scan type display apparatus for displaying characters having attributes. The attributes are, for example: (i) underlining, (ii) reverse video, (iii) high intensity, and (iv) blinking. The characters and attributes are stored in a refresh memmory. The display may be operated in either a field attribute mode or in a character attribute mode. In the field attribute mode, one field attribute byte in the refresh memory sets the attributes for at least one, but usually many characters which follow the field attribute byte in the refresh memory. In the character attribute mode, one character attribute byte in the refresh memory sets the attribute for only one character which precedes the character attribute in the refresh memory. In the character attribute mode, field attributes may be provided (in addition to the character attributes) for strings of characters following the field attributes.

  • Patent number: 4742344
Abstract: A digital display system includes a refresh store containing character data for display on a raster scan video display device and field attribute data defining attributes of fields of the character data. The character data is stored as character bytes in sequential locations in the store for readout in groups to provide respective rows of displayed characters. The field attribute data comprises attribute bytes interspersed with the character bytes. Character bytes in a group read out following an attribute byte provide displayed characters with an attribute defined by that attribute byte until another attribute byte is accessed in the group. In order to maintain an attribute from one row of displayed characters to the next, the group of character bytes corresponding to the next row requires a copy attribute byte at the start of readout of that group.
