Publication number: 20160247196Abstract: Causing a mobile computing device to render a user interface that presents content that is selected based on information extracted from images comprises analyzing an image by performing an OCR process and extracting converted text. A camera on the device captures an image. The device monitors its location, detects a location at a time when the image is captured, and associates the location with the image. The device analyzes the image by performing an OCR process on the image, extracts information from converted text, and determines the associated location. The extracted information, the location, and a request for content are transmitted to a content distribution system, which selects the content. The content distribution system transmits an alert notification to the device that causes an alert to display on the user interface. When the content alert is selected, the user interface is rendered to present content available near the location.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 2, 2016Publication date: August 25, 2016Inventor: Kawaljit Gandhi

Publication number: 20140067533Abstract: Content providers can target individuals for receipt of selected content based, at least in part, on profiles associated with users. The associations between the users and the profiles are determined based on analysis of receipts for transactions completed by the users. These receipts contain information that is indicative of the individuals' spending habits. Electronic correspondence associated with the users is scanned to identify the receipts and information is extracted from the receipts for use in the analysis. The individuals can opt-in to receive content targeted to the profiles associated with their accounts without allowing the content providers to have direct access to their receipts or their identity. The individuals can also opt-out if they no longer want to receive targeted content.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 8, 2013Publication date: March 6, 2014Applicant: GOOGLE INC.Inventor: Kawaljit Gandhi

Patent number: 8626604Abstract: A “likeness factor” indicating users' endorsements of a product is disclosed. “Likes,” “dislikes,” and other favorable or unfavorable user input for a product are collected from a website that displays the product and that logs such information. The collected information is made available on other websites displaying the product either directly or in the form of a likeness factor. The information can be aggregated from multiple websites and sources. A likeness factor for a manufacturer or other merchant is based on likeness factors for products of the manufacturer. Changes in likeness factor over time indicate a trend for products and manufacturers and can be used to predict product performance. Search results are filtered by likeness factor, and advertisements are presented based on likeness factor.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 2011Date of Patent: January 7, 2014Assignee: Google Inc.Inventor: Kawaljit Gandhi
