    Abstract: Provided are a non-conductive antibacterial sheet, a method for manufacturing thereof, and an antibacterial method, wherein it is enough that the feature height of the non-conductive antibacterial sheet is shallower than the conventional one, and hence many materials may be used for preparation thereof. The non-conductive antibacterial sheet of an acrylic resin comprises a micropatterned concave and convex surface in which there are produced concave and convex micropattern groups by forming multiple protrusion portions each having a nearly rectangular shape in a plane view on the surface thereof, wherein the protrusion portions are regularly formed in an x-direction and a y-direction orthogonal thereto with x-direction spaces and y-direction spaces, the both spaces having predetermined widths; a height from the surface of the sheet to the top of the protrusion portion is 0.

    Abstract: Provided is a novel assessment method for stroke and cerebral infarction (in particular, asymptomatic cerebral infarction) without any burden on a subject to be tested. It is newly found that the content of 3-HPMA, which is a metabolite of acrolein, in a urine specimen decreases in a stroke patient as compared to a healthy subject without history of stroke, irrespective of smoking habits and gender, which is quite different from the result expected from a conventional finding. Thus, an assessment method for stroke and/or cerebral infarction, including using 3-HPMA in a urine specimen as an indicator, is completed.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a diagnostic method for stroke/asymptomatic cerebral infarction and a screening method for patients with stroke/asymptomatic cerebral infarction, which comprise measuring acrolein content or polyamine content; or polyamine oxidase activity or protein content of polyamine oxidase in plasma. The knowledge of the present invention indicates the possibility of preventing, inhibiting the progression of stroke/asymptomatic cerebral infarction by inhibiting polyamine oxidase, and the possibility of obtaining a therapeutic agent for stroke/asymptomatic cerebral infarction by searching for compounds that inhibit polyamine oxidase.

    Abstract: A method of detecting cerebral stroke or asymptomatic cerebral infarction is disclosed. The method comprises measuring the contents of aldehyde compounds formed from polyamines, interleukin-6 and C-reactive proteins, the polyamine oxidase activity or the polyamine oxidase protein content in a biological sample obtained from a subject and using the measurement data thus obtained and the age of the subject as indications.
