  • Patent number: 10014637
Abstract: A device is equipped with an electrical connector in the form of a receptacle that is subject to liquid intrusion. The device detects the insertion of a mating connector and optionally detects the presence of liquid in the receptacle by applying a low power, pulsed sense signal to a terminal pin of the receptacle while the terminal pin is decoupled from a circuit part to which the terminal pin is normally coupled and concurrently sensing a voltage coupled from the terminal pin and comparing the voltage to at least a predetermined lower voltage bound and optionally a predetermined upper voltage bound and based on the results of those comparison deduces the presence of a mating connector or optionally the presence of liquid in the receptacle.

  • Patent number: 9762051
Abstract: A current-limiting and power-flow control device according to the present invention includes a superconducting current-limiting element including a superconductor, a series capacitor, and a parallel circuit. The series capacitor is connected in series with the superconducting current-limiting element. The parallel circuit includes a reactor connected in parallel with a series circuit including the superconducting current-limiting element and the series capacitor. Accordingly, overcurrent at the time of occurrence of a fault causes transition of the superconductor of the superconducting current-limiting element to the normal conducting state, and thus causes autonomous current-limiting operation of the superconducting current-limiting element. Thus, application of an excessive load across the terminals of the series capacitor due to the aforementioned fault can surely be prevented.

  • Patent number: 5443913
Abstract: In a magnetic recording medium comprising on a non-magnetic substrate a magnetic layer obtained by dispersing ferromagnetic powder in an electron beam-curable resin followed by electron beam curing or a backcoat layer obtained by curing an electron beam-curable resin with electron beams, a combination of an electron beam-curable vinyl chloride resin having a sulfur-containing polar group and an electron beam-curable urethane resin having a phosphorus-containing polar group is used as the electron beam-curable resin. This results in improvements in dispersibility, surface smoothness, and electromagnetic characteristics, as well as a lowering of error rate in high density digital recording. Storage property is good.
