  • Patent number: 7567800
Abstract: In a content delivery system, a gatekeeping apparatus is connected to a network. Prior to the transmission of a request message to a content server, a user terminal transmits an enquiry message to the gatekeeping apparatus. In response, the gatekeeping apparatus makes a decision as to whether or not a content can be retrieved from the content server and performs control on the transmission of the request message according to the decision. If the decision indicates that a content can be retrieved, the user terminal transmits the request message to the content server. In a preferred embodiment, the gatekeeping apparatus makes comparison between user's preference data and server's policy data and determines whether the requested content can be retrieved from the server. A cache memory may be provided in the user terminal or gatekeeping apparatus to store past decisions regarding requested contents.

  • Patent number: 7305428
Abstract: A retrieval system includes a retrieval server for providing retrieval service and a retrieval device accessible through a transmission medium by the retrieval server. The retrieval device is configured to modify a first retrieval condition with a first retrieving extent into a second retrieval condition with a second retrieving extent which includes the first retrieving extent and which is greater than the first retrieving extent. The server retrieves first retrieved information under a second retrieval condition. The retrieval device retrieves second retrieved information from the first retrieved information under a first retrieval condition designated by a user. The first retrieval condition includes a first factor in connection with the user's privacy-related information. The first retrieval condition includes a second factor corresponding to the first factor. The second factor has a greater retrieving extent than the first factor for protection of the user's privacy-related information.

  • Publication number: 20070206745
Abstract: To provide a communication system in which transfer through a telephone repeater can be performed even if the telephone device is different in manufacturer or type and even if the telephone device has a data communication function. A call requesting section sends identification information on the telephone called party (communication party) through a data processing section to a telephone call control server, records information on the called party (forwarding destination) telephone number in a called party data storage section, and calls a telephone repeater through a telephone processing section. The telephone repeater forwards the telephone call to the telephone device corresponding the called party telephone number information stored in the called party data storage section.

  • Patent number: 7228435
Abstract: A program executing apparatus includes a first storage section which stores data permitted to be leaked out; a second storage section which stores secret data of a user; a communication section which can communicate with an external unit; a program storage section which stores at least one application program; and a program executing section, checks a possibility that the secret data could be leaked out to the external unit, and stops the execution of the at least one application program when it is determined that the secret data could be leaked out. The check of the possibility that the secret data could be leaked out is based on whether the at least one application program contains a process of communicating with the external unit or a process of writing data in the first storage section and a process of reading the secret data from the second storage section.

  • Patent number: 7177907
Abstract: Messages with a valid range are selected by a message filter unit among the messages received through a network by a message reception unit, and the selected messages with a valid range are temporarily stored in a message storage unit. A message delivery assessment unit compares periodically the valid range of the stored message with a valid range with a current position obtained by a positioning unit, and a message delivery unit delivers the message with a valid range for which the current position is in the valid range, to a user. As a result, the message reception device can deliver the message valid in a specific location to the user with an appropriate timing.

  • Patent number: 7079950
Abstract: A location information conversion device which can ensure privacy protection of a search object. Upon receiving a request with a designated accuracy from an input/output section, a location information generating section acquires location information from a location measurement section and supplies the location information to an accuracy adjustment section, together with the designated accuracy. The accuracy adjustment section converts the location information into location information of an accuracy equal to or lower than the designated accuracy and returns the resulting location information to the location information generating section. The location information generating section sends the location information whose accuracy has been converted to the requesting party via an input/output section. This ensures protection of privacy, since the location information about a search object is converted into location information of an accuracy equal to or lower than the designated accuracy.
