The combination of two different data voltages are, for example, a combination of different waveforms, a combination of negative level and positive level, and a combination of two different voltages having at least a voltage difference. Further, a division of T-V characteristics and an exchange of data voltages are carried out to reduce the flickering.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 1991Date of Patent: April 24, 2001Assignee: Fujitsu LimitedInventors: Tadahisa Yamaguchi, Kazuhiro Takahara, Masami Oda, Hisashi Yamaguchi -
Patent number: 6222516Abstract: A liquid crystal display has a liquid crystal layer, first and second electrodes, and a third electrode. The liquid crystal layer is inserted between the first and second electrodes to define liquid crystal cells. The third electrode is capacitively coupled with one of the first and second electrodes. A correction voltage for correcting distortion of a waveform for driving one of the first and second electrodes is applied to the third electrode, to keep an effective voltage applied to the liquid crystal cells unchanged and improve the display quality of the liquid crystal display. Therefore, the liquid crystal display of the present invention can correct distortion of a common voltage and prevent crosstalk.Type: GrantFiled: April 7, 1997Date of Patent: April 24, 2001Assignee: Fujitsu LimitedInventors: Masami Oda, Munehiro Haraguchi, Tadahisa Yamaguchi, Kazuhiro Takahara, Akira Yamamoto

Patent number: 4818981Abstract: An active matrix display device of an improved and simplified configuration and a driving method for the same are disclosed. The display device according to the present invention is characterized in that data bus lines and scan bus lines are separately formed on first and second transparent substrates respectively and the drain electrode of each TFT on the second substrate is connected to the scan bus line to be addressed next. This configuration eliminates earth bus lines of the prior art. This arrangement has effects of simplifying a bus line design and obtaining a higher yield and an increased opening rate for each display element. In order to drive the above device, an address pulse having a stepped waveform is used. Each address pulse has Vgon, Vgc, and Vgoff levels, and a width of two horizontal scan time.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 1987Date of Patent: April 4, 1989Assignee: Fujitsu LimitedInventors: Ken-ichi Oki, Satoru Kawai, Ken-ichi Yanai, Kazuhiro Takahara
