Abstract: A document management system includes a memory portion that stores an original document identifier and a first derived document identifier in association with a second apparatus identifier, the original document identifier being provided to an original document, the first derived document identifier being provided to a first derived document created when the original document is copied, printed, edited, or sent by a first apparatus, the second apparatus identifier being provided to a second apparatus that further copies, prints, edits, or sends the first derived document; and a search portion that searches for a distribution path of the original document with the use of the association of the original document identifier, the first derived document identifier, and the second apparatus identifier.

Abstract: An image reading apparatus for obtaining a digital image having gradation of binary-level or multi level in a computer, a word processor, a digital copying machine, or like apparatus. The image reading apparatus includes an imaging device, an optical unit located for exposing the imaging device and capable of moving in two directions perpendicular to each other, a reading operation control unit for controlling a first reading operation in which whole information of the original image is read, and a second reading operation in which division image information in division areas of the original image is read, a resolution setting unit for setting a resolution in the second reading operation, and a data processing unit for connecting a plurality of division image information sets which are read in a plural number of times of the second reading operations, as a front view image information on the original image.

Abstract: In an image reading apparatus, a spot-light position calculator calculates a distance between a document original and a solid state imaging device using the output signals of a light sensing device, which receives a reflected spot light from the original. A image reading section is moved to a read position according to the calculation results, by a drive mechanism. Thereafter, the original is read. A distorted-image processor extends the data on the image on the undulated portion of the original and corrects the density of the extended image data. The data extension and the density adjustment are performed on the basis of the calculation results from the spot-light position calculator.

Abstract: An image reading device in which light receiving elements formed on a first substrate are disposed in opposition to light emitting elements formed on a second substrate with a transparent layer being interposed therebetween. The transparent layer is made of a material whose reflectivity is smaller than that of the second substrate. In another embodiment, gas layers are provided between the transparent layer and the light emitting elements and the gas therein has an index of refraction less than the second substrate. Light transmitting windows provided in an opaque electrode of the light emitting elements have peripheral portions where no light is emitted.
