Abstract: A bar coating apparatus includes a coating bar for contacting an object to be coated, which object is conveyed in a constant direction, so as to apply a coating solution to and remove excess coating solution from the object to be coated, a weir member for forming a bead of the coating solution between the object to be coated and the coating bar, the weir member being disposed upstream of the coating bar in a direction in which the object to be coated is conveyed, a pressing member for pressing the object to be coated from a side thereof opposite from the coating bar, the pressing member being disposed near the coating bar; and a moving device for moving the pressing member in a thickness direction of the object to be coated.

Abstract: A coating device and a coating method are provided. The coating device comprises a coating station for coating a coating liquid on a band-shaped substrate running continuously, and a coat-adjusting station disposed downstream of the coating station for adjusting the coating liquid on the substrate so that the coating liquid layer is coated on the substrate at a predetermined thickness. The coating station and the coat-adjusting station comprise first and second bars for respectively coating and measuring the liquid agent. The coating liquid can be coated on evenly and in a stable manner even if the coating operation is performed with the substrate running at a high speed.

Abstract: A coating device is provided which has a bar which coats a coating liquid on a strip-shaped body conveyed in a given direction, and a dam-shaped member disposed at an upstream side of the bar so as to face the bar. Also provided is a coating method which, in the coating device, supplies the coating liquid from between the dam-shaped member and the bar so as to carry out coating. A flow rate of the coating liquid passing through a gap between the strip-shaped body and the dam-shaped member is set to be 3 m/min or more. A flow rate of the coating liquid passing through a gap between the bar and the dam-shaped member is set to be 5 mm/sec or more.
