  • Patent number: 4743412
Abstract: A space portion processing method and apparatus for preprocessing a slide fastener chain before attaching parts forming a separable end stop such as a retainer pin and a separable pin at the space portion of a slide fastener chain formed by cutting and removing a row of elements for a certain length from a row of coil-like continuous fastener elements of thermoplastic resin attached around a core cord along each of the facing side edges of a pair of fastener tapes are disclosed. After the space portion is detected and positioned and the slide fastener chain is held on a bed, fusion of the element cut edges at the end of the space portion into the tapes and press-forming of the core cords is carried out simultaneously by using the same pressing means. The space portion processing method and apparatus for a slide fastener chain according to the invention enables the apparatus to be made simple and compact, allows processing efficiency to be improved, and processing costs to be lowered.

  • Patent number: 4640008
Abstract: A stringer combining apparatus includes a stringer combining guide section. The guide section has an outer guide member located at the junction of guide groove portions which in combination constitute a Y-shaped guide groove, the member being made resiliently movable in the outward direction, thereby allowing the passage of even members other than fastener elements attached to a stringer. The apparatus further includes a conveyor device for conveying the stringers through the guide section. The guide section is made movable in the direction parallel with the moving direction of the stringers. The guide section is moved by a fluid-pressure cylinder device.

  • Patent number: 4627807
Abstract: An apparatus of manufacturing a slide fastener with a separable end stop according to the invention includes: a step which is carried out while separating engaged stringers of continuous length which have space portions disposed at regular intervals in their longitudinal directions and which consists of conveying the separated stringers through an injection molding station; suspending the operation of conveying the stringers in such a manner that one of the space portions is disposed at the injection molding station; and simultaneously injection-molding upper stops and pins which constitute a separable end stop on the stringers at each end of the space portion.

  • Patent number: 4516304
Abstract: In a reinforcing-film applying apparatus for use in production of separable slide fasteners, there are a first working station where a shaping die and a coacting ultrasonic horn are located, and a second working station where a heating die and a coacting heating punch are located, the first and second working stations being spaced apart remotely from one another along a longitudinal path of a slide fastener chain. When one of successive pairs of blank tape portions arrives at the first working station, a reinforcing film piece is placed on the fastener chain across the pair of blank tape portions, whereupon the shaping die and the ultrasonic horn are moved toward one another to fuse the reinforcing film piece to the pair of blank tape portions only at their inner marginal areas and also to shape such fused marginal portions so as to provide therealong a pair of pin-like members to which a pin and a box of a separable bottom end stop are to be attached.

  • Patent number: 4489873
Abstract: A mechanism, for intermittently feeding a tape-like article along a longitudinal path, comprises a slide having a first clamping jaw and reciprocably movable parallel to the longitudinal path, and a second clamping jaw carried by the slide and movable relatively thereto toward and away from the first jaw to clamp and release the tape-like article. At the end of the slide's forward movement, the second jaw is moved away from the first jaw and is locked in such "releasing" position. At the end of the slide's backward movement, the second jaw is unlocked and thereby returned to its "clamping" position.

  • Patent number: 4307500
Abstract: An apparatus for manufacturing slide fastener stringer pairs of a slide fastener length from a pair of continuous slide fastener stringers. The apparatus comprises means for severing the continuous slide fastener stringers transversely across one of element-free portions, means for pairing the severed slide fastener stringers, and gripping means reciprocable between a first position adjacent to the severing means and a second position disposed away from the first position for advancing the slide fastener stringers along a longitudinal path. The gripping means includes a pair of grippers movable toward each other for introducing the slide fastener stringers into the pairing means.

  • Patent number: 4299027
Abstract: An apparatus for applying pieces of reinforcing film of synthetic resin to a pair of continuous slide fastener stringers at longitudinally spaced locations thereof, comprises means for feeding the stringers longitudinally along a first path selectively at a rapid rate or a slow rate, means for sensing one of the locations on the stringers at a time to switch the feeding means from a rapid rate to a slow rate mode of operation and then to a stopping mode, and for locating said one of the locations on the stringers in a position for the application of one of the pieces of reinforcing film, and means for holding the stringers during the film-piece application.

  • Patent number: 4265014
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for press-bonding a reinforcement tape of plastic film onto a space section of a continuous length slide fastener chain, the method and the apparatus comprising means for positioning the space section of the fastener chain between an upper presser and a lower presser providing the reinforcement tape with a cut-out to fit the element rows of the fastener chain, transferring a continuous length reinforcement tape by a predetermined distance in a direction perpendicular to the movement of the fastener chain so that the cut-out is located just on the space section of the fastener chain between the pressers, closing of the pressers to effect press-bonding of the reinforcement tape to the space of the fastener chain either by heat melting or by high-frequency welding, and simultaneously cutting the reinforcement tape with a cutter blade.

  • Patent number: 4262569
Abstract: A method is provided for fabricating a slide fastener chain having a certain length and reinforcement tapes at its ends from a manufactured, continuous length fastener chain which is provided with space sections each of which entirely consists of a reinforced tape. According to the method, the original length fastener chain is held first by a pair of pressers on a die at one side of the main crosswise cutting line, then by another pair of pressers at the other side to form a right position so that the reinforced space section is cut along the crosswise line and at the same time, the lengthwise lines by a cutter blade. This method is performed using an apparatus with a linkage motion of its individual parts whereby working efficiency is improved and a good cutting finish is obtained.
