Patent number: 8095527Abstract: The present invention is intended to automatically construct a database of contents data which are distributed over plural reproducing apparatuses and search this database on the basis of user's fragmentary memory. A contents sharing management system practiced as one embodiment of the invention comprises an episode server installed at user's home and plural reproducing apparatuses including a component stereo set, portable player, portable wireless terminal, and MD player, which are interconnected in a wireless manner based on wireless communication technologies such as Bluetooth. The episode server wirelessly connects to the portable player for example to get the episode information stored therein and organizes the retrieved episode information into a database. The episode server also searches the database upon request from the portable player to identify a source apparatus in which desired contents data are stored and supplies the retrieved contents data to the requesting portable player.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 2008Date of Patent: January 10, 2012Assignee: Sony CorporationInventors: Noriyuki Yamamoto, Kazunori Ohmura

Patent number: 7548891Abstract: An information processing apparatus, capable of identifying vital sign information. A learning unit identifies an emotion/state of the user by comparing the generated feature vectors with feature vectors accumulated in a storage unit. Information indicating the resultant identified emotion/state of the user is output to an output unit via an output controller.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 2003Date of Patent: June 16, 2009Assignee: Sony CorporationInventors: Masumi Ono, Mikio Kamada, Masamichi Asukai, Kazunori Ohmura

Patent number: 7454401Abstract: A reproducing apparatus includes retrieving means for retrieving contents data from an electronic apparatus. The reproducing apparatus further includes reproducing means for reproducing the contents data retrieved from the electronic apparatus. The reproducing apparatus gathers episode information including information associated with the electronic apparatus about a reproduction episode of the contents data by the reproducing means, and stores the episode information in relationship with the contents data. The episode information includes information about a person or apparatus located near a user during at least part of the reproduction episode. The episode information may then be used to retrieve contents data.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 2002Date of Patent: November 18, 2008Assignee: Sony CorporationInventors: Noriyuki Yamamoto, Kazunori Ohmura

Publication number: 20050149467Abstract: The present invention relates to an information processing apparatus, an information processing method, a program, and a storage medium, capable of identifying emotion/state of a user from undefined information such as vital sign information by using an information processing apparatus. Pulse information and body motion information of a user are acquired via an input unit 91. A feature extractor 112 generates feature vectors associated with pulse information and body motion information. A learning unit 94 identifies the emotion/state of the user by comparing the generated feature vectors with feature vectors accumulated in a storage unit 95. Information indicating the resultant identified emotion/state of the user is output to an output unit 92 via an output controller 114.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 6, 2003Publication date: July 7, 2005Applicant: Sony CorporationInventors: Masumi Ono, Mikio Kamada, Masamichi Asukai, Kazunori Ohmura

Patent number: 6138149Abstract: The electronic mail editing section 26 has a function of editing an electronic mail and inserts a stored index sticker into the text of the electronic mail. The edited electronic mail after insertion of the index sticker is sent to the electronic mail transmitting section 27 by an electronic mail transmitting command, and then transmitted to other information processing apparatus 10b serving as a client computer. The transfer information notifying section 28 sends out transfer information via the internet 7 to the WWW server 8i upon sending the electronic mail by the electronic mail transmitting section 27. The transfer information comprises prescribed information permitting confirmation by the WWW server 8i of the transfer of the information. As a result, the WWW server 8i can know at least that the information processing apparatus 10a has transferred the information to the other information processing apparatus 10b.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 1998Date of Patent: October 24, 2000Assignee: Sony CorporationInventor: Kazunori Ohmura

Patent number: 5818954Abstract: The inventive method calculates a position of the center of the eyeball as a fixed displacement from an origin of a facial coordinate system established by detection of three points on the face, and computes a vector therefrom to the center of the pupil. The vector and the detected position of the pupil are used to determine the visual axis.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 1991Date of Patent: October 6, 1998Assignee: ATR Communication Systems Research LaboratoriesInventors: Akira Tomono, Muneo Iida, Kazunori Ohmura

Patent number: 5016282Abstract: Characteristic features of images of an object eye are extracted to enable non-contact detection of eye movement. Two images of the eye are focused, and a differential image is generated to eliminate background noise and to permit feature extraction to be performed. In one feature of the invention, the illuminating light is polarized for use as a reference and the reflected light is separated to two light paths, each of which is focused to form an image of the object. In one path a polarizing plate blocks the regularly reflected light from the cornea so that only a diffused reflection component of the illuminating light from the other parts of the eye is passed, while in the other path both the regularly and diffusedly reflected light components are passed. A resulting differential image emphasizes the regular reflection component from the cornea relative to the background.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 1989Date of Patent: May 14, 1991Assignee: ATR Communication Systems Research LaboratoriesInventors: Akira Tomono, Muneo Iida, Kazunori Ohmura
