  • Patent number: 5513069
Abstract: An electronic apparatus includes a body including a storing portion and an engagement portion. A detachable unit is detachably stored in the storing portion. A unit holder holds the detachable unit in the storing portion, the unit holder being slidably connected to the detachable unit and including an engaging member movable between an engaging position and a release position. In the engaging position, the engaging member engages the engagement portion to hold the detachable unit in the storing portion. In the release position, the engaging member is disengaged from the engagement portion. An insertion opening may be provided in the storing portion of the body through which the detachable unit is detachably stored, and a cover may be provided to cover the insertion opening when the detachable unit is stored in the storing portion.

  • Patent number: 5485073
Abstract: A personal computer of this invention has a battery pack mounting section for detachably receiving battery packs having different current capacities. The personal computer also includes a switch mechanism for detecting whether a battery pack has a high or low capacity. Battery characteristic values consisting of charge and discharge voltage/current characteristics in units of batteries are prestored in a memory in a power control CPU (PC-CPU). The PC-CPU refers to the memory on the basis of capacity data from the switch mechanism and reads out the corresponding battery characteristic data. A power supply circuit performs optimal charge control on the basis of this characteristic data. Two battery packs are prepared. When the PC-CPU detects that the currently used battery pack is in a low-battery state, it selects the other battery pack to supply the operating power to the personal computer. At the same time the PC-CPU performs optimal charge control of the battery in the low-battery state.

  • Patent number: 5402309
Abstract: A portable computer includes a body having a storing portion for storing a hard disk drive pack. The storing portion has an insertion opening which is open to the outside of the body. A hard disk drive holder is detachably connected to the hard disk drive pack. The holder includes a holder main body detachably fitted in the insertion portion. A pair of retaining members are provided on the holder main body and movable between an engaging position in which the retaining members engage engagement portions of the body to hold the holder main body in the insertion opening, and a retreat position in which the members are disengaged from the engagement portions to allow the holder main body to be detached from the insertion opening. A cover plate is detachably fitted in the insertion opening and includes lock pins which engage the retaining members to lock the members in the engagement position.

  • Patent number: 5289339
Abstract: In a device such as a personal computer having a memory card unit, terminals of a memory card are arranged symmetrically about power source terminals. When a memory card is inserted upside down into a memory card unit, the power source terminals are connected to a connector of a unit as in a normal operation, and other terminals are connected to identical types of terminals of the connector.

  • Patent number: 4588431
Abstract: In producing a mixed phosphatic fertilizer, humic acid is mixed with fused phosphate to cause the humic acid to react on alkaline ingredients of the fused phosphate for turning these alkaline ingredients into chelate compounds, so that water-soluble phosphoric acid contents of succeedingly added phosphatic fertilizers such as calcium superphosphate and calcium triple-superphosphate are not reduced or insolubilized by being reacted with such alkaline ingredients. Thus, unlike the prior art, a stabilized predetermined level of water-soluble phosphoric acid contents can be secured in the resultant mixed phosphatic fertilizer along with a predetermined level of citric acid-soluble phosphoric acid contents.

  • Patent number: 4386258
Abstract: A plasma reactor is developed on the fact that a high frequency plasma flame is larger in volume and lower in velocity and therefore a reaction material can stay therein for a relatively long period of time. The plasma reactor has a d.c. arc plasma torch provided in the upper part of the pipe which is an electrically insulative pipe high in heat-resistance and corrosion-resistance or is made up of electrically conductive components which are so designed as to prevent magnetic induction, a reaction material continuously introducing pipe opened in the vicinity of the arc plasma jet from the torch, and a high frequency coil wound around the firstly mentioned pipe coaxially with the torch.

  • Patent number: 4323891
Abstract: In a raster scan type display system in which a display screen is divided into a plurality of sections, and the display information is supplied to stations by using a mirror reflection, a cursor address for one of the divided sections or screens is outputted from an interface controller while the cursor address for the other divided screen is stored in a register in the controller. The cursor address produced by the interface controller is compared with the refresh memory address outputted from a CRT controller in a comparator. When both are coincident with each other, the comparator produces a cursor display signal.
