  • Patent number: 3987690
Abstract: Power transmission for motor vehicles including an input and an output shafts rotatable about a common axis, a planetary gear mechanism including interconnected three planetary gear sets, clutch means for selectively connecting elements of the gear mechanism with the input shaft, an element of the final stage gear set of the planetary gear mechanism being connected with the output shaft, brake means being provided for selectively constraining elements of the gear mechanism against rotation. A further set of planetary gear may be additionally combined with the planetary gear mechanism.
