    Abstract: A splash cover is assembled to a mount of a base. A space for holding a packing is provided between the splash cover and the mount. A packing port is provided to the accommodating space. The structure allows an operator to install or remove the packing to or from the accommodating portion inside the splash cover without interference from the splash cover. Thus, installing or removing the packing can be easily performed. In addition, because the packing is invisible from outside, the appearance of the splash cover is improved.

    Abstract: A machine tool includes a cover member covering an upper open portion of a movable carriage and at least one chain member to connect the cover member to the carriage. The cover member hangs down the front surface of the carriage and forms a U-shape with the at least one chain member at the lower side of the carriage. Chips that are trapped on the inside of the cover member are discharged through an open portion when the at least one chain member is located at the lowest point of the U-shape through the movement of a column of the machine tool.

  • Wire-cut electrical discharge machine having wire electrode cutting device

    Abstract: A wire cutting mechanism for smoothly cutting a broken cutting wire of a wire electrode cutting device that positively guides the scrape position of the wire electrode to a disposal passage. The cutting mechanism has a feed mechanism positioned above a wire cutter to control the feed of the wire electrode during the cutting operation. Both the cutter and the feed mechanism are mounted on a plate that is displaceable in order to align the wire electrode feed with the disposal passage when the wire electrode has been broken and must be cut to ensure accurate feeds the cutting zone. The cutting mechanism, when positioned for cutting, feeds the broken end of the electrode wire for a predetermined time so that the wire electrode enters the disposal passage prior to cutting.
