Abstract: A first cooling unit is provided for an exothermic member and has a capability of cooling the exothermic member to a temperature less than an ambient temperature of the exothermic member by absorbing heat from the exothermic member. A second cooling unit has a capability of cooling the exothermic member by blowing air onto the exothermic member. A temperature of the exothermic member is detected. It is determined that whether or not the exothermic member is in a supercooled state based on a detection result. The cooling capability of the first cooling unit is decreased and the cooling capability of the second cooling unit is increased, when the exothermic member is in the supercooled state.

Abstract: There are provided a light source system which can suppress the deterioration of a luminescent material and a projector which can project a clear image. The light source system comprises a luminescent wheel, a driving unit for rotating the luminescent wheel, a light source for shining excitation light on to a luminescent material layer of the luminescent wheel, a light shining control unit for controlling an illumination timing of the light source, a light shining time integrating unit for integrating individual excitation light shining times to a plurality of predetermined divided areas of the luminescent wheel, an integrated light shining time storage unit for storing the individual light shining times to the predetermined divided areas, and a light shining range control unit for equalizing times over which excitation light is shone on to the plurality of predetermined divided areas of the luminescent wheel based on the individual excitation light shining times to the predetermined divided areas.

Abstract: A projection equipment is provided with a projection system, a memory unit for storing discrimination information which is used to judge whether or not a cooling operation of a light source lamp of the projection system has been finished in a normal manner at the time of a previous power-off operation, a key input unit for giving an instruction to execute a power-on operation, and a control unit adapted to use a timer unit for delaying a turn-on operation of the light source lamp by a predetermined time depending on the discrimination information stored in the memory unit at the time when the instruction to execute the power-on operation is given.

Abstract: Deterioration of a light source lamp such as a high-pressure discharge lamp is prevented without failure, and an expensive high-pressure discharge lamp is stretched in its operational lifetime, whereby economical burden imposed on a user is reduced.
