  • Patent number: 5862257
Abstract: Multi-value character (line image) data, characteristic information and half-tone data are stored while the memory is effectively used. Half-tone data is outputted from the attribute separating section 20. Vector pixels or the density data of 5 bits and the characteristic flag of 3 bits are outputted from the resolution converting section 12 and the edge detecting section 13. After a discriminating flag (1 bit) has been added to them by the data mixing section 21, they are formatted in a predetermined manner and stored in the memory M. In this case, both halftone data and vector pixels are stored as raster data of 9 bits. Further, the characteristic flag is stored as a portion of the vector pixels. Accordingly, the memory M is not wasted, and it is not necessary to separately provide a memory exclusively used for the characteristic flag.

  • Patent number: 5414529
Abstract: An image processing system assigns weight factors to two respective image signals of the equivalent color space so that the two image signals are combined according to the respective weight factors. For example, two weight factors having a sum of unity are assigned to the respective image signals. Alternatively, two weight factors are assigned independently.

  • Patent number: 5121195
Abstract: A gray balance control system for reproducing original images. An optical signal is separated into a plurality of separated color signals, gray balance conversion data for each of the colors of the separated color signals is stored in a memory circuit, and an equivalent neutral density conversion is performed on the plurality of separated color signals by converting the color signals to gray balanced color signals in accordance with the gray balance conversion data. Finally, the gray balanced color signals are converted into print signals for coloring materials.

  • Patent number: 4899225
Abstract: The image processing method and related apparatus of the present invention contemplates the steps of setting a two-dimensional image filter to center around a subject picture element switching the coefficient of the two-dimensional image filter on a time-sharing basis during the time an image signal corresponding to one picture element is transferred, taking out a plurality of filter outputs relative to the image signal of the subject picture element, comparing the plurality of filter outputs with each other to identify which one of the character and half tone areas the subject picture element belongs to, and subjecting the image to individual process on an area basis. Accordingly, it is possible to distinguish between the character and half tone areas efficiently with a simple arrangement and simultaneously output an image of good quality.
