  • Patent number: 4988476
Abstract: Evaluation for deformations of the channel box of a fuel assembly in a nuclear reactor core in which deformations of the channel box which has been used for exposure so as to be deformed are estimated for future exposure through computation and process of data of core characteristics, data of material properties and shapes of channel boxes, data of initial deformations of the channel box, data of loading patterns and the like, thereby to judge whether the estimated deformations are agreeable for reusing the channel box in the future exposure, or not.

  • Patent number: 4587089
Abstract: Provided is a fuel assembly for a boiling water reactor. The fuel assembly comprises fuel rod arranged in an 8-lines/8-columns square lattice, water rod and a channel box surrounding these fuel rods and water rods. A central portion corresponds to 80% of the fuel rod comprises fuel pellet having an outer diameter of 10.31 mm and inner diameter of 5.95 mm.

  • Patent number: 4147591
Abstract: This invention relates to fuel assembly for Fast Breeder Reactor, such as wire spacer fuel assembly, in which the thickness of cladding tubes in the upper end portion of fuel pins positioned in the peripheral region of the assembly is made larger than that of the remaining portion. Thus, according to the present invention, a bundle of the fuel pins can be restrained from displacement in one direction in the assembly when the fuel pins are deformed by heat and neutron radiation in operation of a nuclear reactor, and further the sectional portion of the fuel pins can be prevented from deformation caused by a load externally operated on the fuel pins. Furthermore, the thickness of the cladding tubes can be prevented from reduction caused by fretting corrosion which is caused by the contact of the cladding tubes with a wrapper tube.
