  • Patent number: 6269539
Abstract: A method for fabricating a connector for coupling with a counter connector having an array of pairs of contacts therein includes providing an insulated housing having an array of openings receiving a plurality of first contact modules each having first and second isolated contacts and a second contact module having isolated first and second conducting members respectively having first and second contacts and a terminal, and a third contact and a second terminal, selectively inserted into corresponding openings of the insulating housing such that each of the respective first and second contacts of the first contact modules are connected with the corresponding contact of the counter connector while maintaining the first and second contacts electrically isolated from each other.

  • Patent number: 6241555
Abstract: An internal shelled connector, mounted on electric equipment having a grounded chassis panel, for mating with an external cable connector. The connector is encapsulated by a conducting shell for electrostatic shield, except at an opening for receiving the external connector through a corresponding window of the panel. A contact, formed on the shell maintains pressure on a back surface of the panel to ground the shell. The contact may be a flange formed at a tip of a blade spring formed integrally continuous with the conducting shell. The flange maintains a persistent electric contact with the panel, even if the panel and the mounted shelled connector are partially separated due to mechanical stress, when plugging in or pulling out the external cable connector.

  • Patent number: 6183283
Abstract: An electrical contact element for a connector, including a first contact end, a second contact end opposed to the first contact end, and an intermediate section integrally joining the first and second contact ends with each other. The intermediate section is provided integrally with a first projection tightly press-fitted into an electro-insulating body of the connector, and with a second projection abutted onto a surface of the connector body to permit the contact element to be fixedly supported in the connector body against an angular displacement of the contact element about the first projection. The electro-insulating body of the connector includes a base for supporting the plural electrical contact elements in a mutually isolated mariner, and a pair of columns extending in the same direction from longitudinally opposed ends of the base.

  • Patent number: 6059606
Abstract: An shelled connector secured to a circuit board of an electric equipment for receiving a counter connector is capable of shielding an array of connector contacts from an external electromagnetic noise by encapsulating an insulating connector body with a metal shell which is directly connected to a ground terminal pad on the circuit board. For one embodiment according to the resent invention, the metal shell has an extended portion connecting the metal shell directly to a ground terminal pad on the front surface of the circuit board by soldering.

  • Patent number: 6056590
Abstract: A connector is moveable between a coupled state and an uncoupled state with respect to a counter connector. Plural contact members of the connector individually contact respective, plural contacts of the counter connector when coupled together. A contact module of the connector has a pair of contacts individually contacting and short circuiting a corresponding pair of respective contacts of the counter connector, in a selected one of the coupled and uncoupled states thereof. The contact module may include a pair of output terminals corresponding to the pair of contacts and a switch, actuated between first and second states in accordance with the coupled and uncoupled states of the connector, a selected one of the coupled and uncoupled states producing short circuiting of the pair of output terminals.
