  • Patent number: 6659471
Abstract: A gasket is disclosed, which is adapted for the use in sealing of a tri-face area where a cylinder block, cylinder head and timing-chain housing meet together and come into abutment against one another. With the gasket of this invention, a deposit of bonding agent is applied on an end lug of a solid gasket material to improve the adhesive property and close adherence of the solid gasket material with a fluid gasket material that is filled in the tri-face area. The fluid gasket material charged in the tri-face area is securely fastened to the solid gasket material through the bonding agent. The end lug of the solid gasket material on which the bonding agent is applied is exposed to the tri-face area where both the cylinder head and the cylinder block are cut at their confronting edges to form bevels.

  • Patent number: 6283480
Abstract: This metal gasket is formed by interposing a shim member between a pair of elastic metal plates, and fixing the shim member and one of the elastic metal plate to each other at the portions thereof which are opposed to a water jacket, whereby the function of the shim member is secured with the fixed portions and opposed surfaces not interfering with each other. The shim member comprises a shim member body corresponding to an end surface of a cylinder body of a cylinder block, and projecting portions integral with said shim member body and extending therefrom to a position opposed to the water jacket. The fixing portions at which the shim member and one elastic metal plate are fixed to each other by crimping are positioned on the projecting portions extending to positions opposed to the water jacket.

  • Patent number: 6076833
Abstract: This metal gasket comprises a pair of beaded metal plates formed of elastic metal plates having beads extending along the circumferences of bore holes, and adapted to seal bore seal portions, and one outer circumferential metal plate formed of an elastic metal plate adapted to seal outer circumferential seal portions other than the bore seal portions. The beaded metal plates and outer circumferential metal plate have different sealing performance, and are adapted to seal the bore seal portions and outer circumferential seal portions respectively, these two types of metal plates being formed out of different materials, whereby the gasket manufacturing cost is reduced. A pair of beaded metal plates are provided with beads extending along the circumferences of the bore holes with the projecting portions thereof opposed to each other.

  • Patent number: 5794945
Abstract: This metal gasket comprises a bead base plate with first beads and a sub-plate stacked on the bead base plate. The sub-plate is made of a thick metal plate and formed with second and third beads and stepped portions. The second beads, the third beads and the stepped portions combine to form triple seal lines, which improve the sealing function. The sub-plate is formed with the second beads opposing the first beads of the bead base plate, with the high third beads formed inside the second beads around the holes and with the stepped portions formed outside the second beads around the holes. The third beads prevent ingress of burning gases to the first beads and also serve as a stopper to prevent the first beads from being flattened completely. The third beads therefore can add durability to the sealing function realized by the first and second beads, enhancing the sealing performance of the first and second beads and reliably preventing burning gases from escaping between the opposing surfaces.
