  • Publication number: 20120272171
Abstract: The information appliance displays content in a visually perceptible grid from which the user selects a target content and upon selection of the processor automatically identifies related content each with an associated relatedness score. Movement by the user of the target content causes the related content to move and follow the target content as if attracted by an invisible spring force or tensile force. The system thus presents the user with a graphical representation of moving items of content which are attracted to the related content based on the degree of relatedness. In this way the user quickly learns how to control selection and organization of related content by mimicking movement of physical objects acting under kinematic forces that mimic natural objects.

  • Publication number: 20120268485
Abstract: A method is provided for visualizing query results in relation to a map. The method includes: specifying a geographic location of interest around which query results are to be clustered; querying a data source using a search query; constraining entities that satisfy the search query to form a subset of entities having a predefined number of entities that are geographically proximate to the specified location of interest; displaying an indicia for each of the entities in the subset of entities in a content area of a display; displaying a map of a geographic area on the display, where the geographic area includes the specified location of interest; and designating a boundary on the map whereby each of the entities in the subset of entities reside in the boundary and other entities that satisfy the search query reside outside the boundary.

  • Patent number: 8244673
Abstract: An information presenting device for narrowing down information for users and stimulating interest in users from various viewpoints, and presenting the information to users in an easily ascertainable manner. Specifically, a content recommending device displays an image, a commonality map image includes a title image, a Venn diagram image, and a details button image. The Venn diagram in the commonality map image relating to all content is narrowed down to a Venn diagram about a set containing, as elements, content IDs of content having an attribute value, for example, “Mayumi Hamada” for an attribute “artist”. In the content recommending device, a multiple profile acquiring unit acquires viewing/listening history tables including content IDs of content viewed/listened to in player terminals, and a profile common relationship ascertaining unit calculates an extent of a common portion of the acquired viewing/listening history tables. The commonality is expressed as a Venn diagram.

  • Patent number: 8154616
Abstract: A data processing apparatus acquires images captured by cameras. A data processing apparatus 2 calculates relative positional relationship between the camera that captured an image and a camera that is captured in the captured image, by image recognition of the captured image. The data processing apparatus 2 aggregates positional relationships calculated for the captured images, respectively, and by having one camera as reference, calculates the relative positions and directions of other cameras. Based on the calculated results, a user interface for supporting selection of the captured image by a user is generated.

  • Patent number: 8144196
Abstract: The present invention aims to provide a display device that can display relationships between a plurality of users in an easy-to-visually-acknowledge manner. The present invention is a system composed of a data sensing unit 1, a positional relationship detection unit 2, a user groping unit 3, and a positional relationship display unit 4. The user grouping unit 3 groups the users into a plurality of groups based on information pieces relating to positional relationships between the users, which are detected by the positional relationship detection unit 2. Based on information pieces relating to the groups extracted by the user grouping unit 3, the positional relationship display unit 4 arranges and displays the groups on a screen in conformity with a positional relationship between the groups.

  • Patent number: 8085308
Abstract: An image correction device trims an image, which has been captured by a camera provided in a moving object, in accordance with a predetermined image frame to generate a corrected image that is enclosed by the predetermined image frame, and then outputs the corrected image as an output image. Even when there is an error between an actual camera position in which the camera is actually positioned and a scheduled camera position in which the camera is scheduled to be positioned, the image correction device (i) decomposes the error into a first component that extends along an imaging direction of the camera and a second component that extends along a plane orthogonal to the imaging direction, (ii) shifts the image frame in accordance with the first component, and (iii) enlarges or shrinks a size of the image frame in accordance with the second component.
