  • Patent number: 9234478
Abstract: A geometric compression ratio in an engine main body 1 is set to 15 or less. Injection control means (ECU 40) performs a main injection of injecting fuel near a compression top dead center, and a preceding injection prior to the main injection at a specific region of predetermined load within an operating region on a relatively low-speed side. The injection control means performs, as the preceding injection, a pilot injection of performing injection at a timing such that at least part of a fuel spray reaches outside a cavity 31 on a top face of a piston, and a pre-injection of injecting fuel at a predetermined timing after the pilot injection, to suppress thereby ignition of the fuel injected by the pilot injection and shorten an ignition delay of the fuel injected by the main injection.

  • Patent number: 9080502
Abstract: An engine includes a variable valve mechanism capable of switching a valve characteristic to a first valve characteristic according to which at least one of an operation of pre-opening an intake valve during an exhaust stroke prior to a valve opening time in an intake stroke and an operation of re-opening an exhaust valve during the intake stroke subsequently to the opening/closing thereof during the exhaust stroke is performed, and to a second valve characteristic according to which neither the pre-opening of the intake valve nor the re-opening of the exhaust valve is performed. In the engine, when the valve characteristic is the first valve characteristic, if the presence of a request for switching to the second valve characteristic resulting from an increase in engine load is detected, a pressure reducing operation for reducing the pressure in an exhaust passage of the engine is performed.

  • Patent number: 8682568
Abstract: A diesel engine is provided, which includes an engine body to be supplied with fuel containing diesel fuel as its main component, a geometric compression ratio being set to 15:1 or below, a fuel injection valve arranged in the engine body so as to be oriented toward a cylinder of the engine body and for directly injecting the fuel into the cylinder, and a control module for controlling a mode of injecting the fuel into the cylinder through the fuel injection valve. The control module performs a main injection where the fuel is injected to cause a main combustion mainly including a diffusion combustion and performs a plurality of pre-stage injections where the fuel is injected prior to the main injection to cause a pre-stage combustion prior to the main combustion. The control module controls the injection mode of the injections to adjust a heat release rate.

  • Publication number: 20130104540
Abstract: An engine 1 includes a variable valve mechanism 18 capable of switching a valve characteristic to a first valve characteristic according to which at least one of an operation of pre-opening an intake valve 14 during an exhaust stroke prior to a valve opening time in an intake stroke and an operation of re-opening an exhaust valve 15 during the intake stroke subsequently to the opening/closing thereof during the exhaust stroke is performed, and to a second valve characteristic according to which neither the pre-opening of the intake valve 14 nor the re-opening of the exhaust valve 15 is performed. In the engine 1, when the valve characteristic is the first valve characteristic, if the presence of a request for switching to the second valve characteristic resulting from an increase in engine load is detected, a pressure reducing operation for reducing the pressure in an exhaust passage 40 of the engine 1 is performed (e.g., a regulate valve 68 is opened).

  • Patent number: 6879540
Abstract: A synchronous semiconductor memory device includes a memory cell array and a command decoder. In the memory cell array, dynamic memory cells are arranged in a matrix form. The command decoder decodes a plurality of commands in synchronism with an external clock signal. The plurality of commands are set by combinations of logical levels of a plurality of control pins at input timing of a first command and at input timing of a second command one cycle after the input timing of the first command. The command decoder includes a first decode section which determines a read operation, a second decode section which determines a write operation, and a third decode section which determines an auto-refresh operation. Setting of an auto-refresh command is determined only by a combination of the logical levels of the plurality of control pins at the input timing of the first command.
