  • Patent number: 5238411
Abstract: In a connector A for a printed circuit board, the printed circuit board 3 is adapted to be held between and connected to a resilient contact piece 5 of each connection terminal 1, received in a terminal receiving chamber 13 of a connector housing 2, and a top plate portion 8 of the connection terminal 1 disposed in opposed relation to the resilient contact piece 5. A guide projection 16 to which the top plate portion 8 is adapted to be fitted is formed on an end wall 14a of the terminal receiving chamber 13 of the connector housing 2. The deformation of connection terminals attached to a connector housing can be prevented, thereby enabling a smooth, positive connection of the printed circuit board.

  • Patent number: 5183418
Abstract: A connector is made up of a connector housing including terminal accommodating chambers each of which has a first flexible locking piece for locking a metal terminal; and a terminal locking member which is engaged with the connector housing temporarily and finally, and which has second flexible locking pieces provided for locking the metal terminals in the terminal accommodating chambers, respectively. Each of the second flexible locking pieces has a locking protrusion which, when the metal terminal is inserted in a reverse way, is engaged with the protrusion of the metal terminal, or each of the second flexible locking pieces is adapted to push, when the metal terminal is inserted in a reverse way, the metal terminal against the wall of the terminal accommodating chamber, to interrupt the insertion of the metal terminal. Each terminal accommodating chamber may hve a terminal guide to smoothly guide the metal terminal thereinto.

  • Patent number: 5178552
Abstract: A connector comprises, a first connector housing having first metal terminals, a second connector housing having second metal terminals engaged with the first metal terminals provided with the first connector housing, and a locking device for engaging the first connector housing with the second connector housing. The lock device includes a spring receiving device, slidably disposed in the first connector housing, for receiving a repulsive force acting between the first and second connector housings through the spring receiving device, and a spring device, for applying the repulsive force to the first and second connector housings through the spring receiving member, disposed between the first connector housing and the spring receiving device.

  • Patent number: 5061210
Abstract: Two-step attachment of a terminal retainer into a connector housing is achieved, without requiring a substantial increase in the size of the housing, by providing an erroneous insertion-preventing portion on the terminal retainer. This portion is disposed in opposed relation to a respective portion of a connector housing in a first insertion step. By pressing a manipulation piece on the terminal retainer, the erroneous insertion-preventing portion is moved out of the opposed relation, enabling completion of the second insertion step.

  • Patent number: 4975075
Abstract: A locking mechanism for a male/female connector system comprises a flexible locking arm formed on a connector housing. The locking arm has formed at its free end a locking projection which lockingly engages a shoulder on a mating connector housing. The locking arm and locking projection lie below the fulcrum of the locking arm with respect to the connector housing. When forces tending to separate the mated connector housings are applied thereto, a moment is created acting on the locking arm in a direction to strengthen the engagement between the locking projection and the shoulder.

  • Patent number: 4932899
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a housing having a terminal-receiving chamber. When a terminal is fully inserted in the chamber, the terminal is lockingly engaged with an elastic retainer arm mounted within the chamber, so that the terminal is prevented from withdrawal from the chamber. A spacer is inserted into the chamber so as to be received in a space formed between the retainer arm and an inner surface of the chamber. The spacer is elastically deformable by the housing when the spacer is inserted into the chamber. The terminal is engageable with the retainer arm to elastically deform the same to reduce the space when the terminal is incompletely inserted in the chamber, so that the spacer in its deformed condition is prevented from being inserted into the space.
