  • Patent number: 5752839
Abstract: Electrical connectors are provided which include a hollow housing formed of electrically conductive metal, a dieletric sleeve which fits into the housing and a resilient roll-formed central signal-carrying contact that is retained by one-way press fit engagement in the dieletric sleeve. The housing is upset against the dielectric sleeve, as by staking, to assure retention of the dieletric sleeve therein. The housing includes mounting legs which are straight and are polygonal in cross-section for press-fit engagement in openings in a circuit board to mount the connector. The legs on one side of the body have cross-sections at different angular orientations relative to a radius of the body than the legs on another side.

  • Patent number: 5569039
Abstract: Electrical connector devices are provided for interconnecting external conductors with a connecting member such as a circuit which has upwardly projecting components that are adjacent contact areas on an exposed surface. The connector device comprises an insulator body for supporting a plurality of conductor elements in spaced relation to one another. The insulator body includes a plurality of cantilever hollow projections which have a length that exceeds the height of the components above the contact surfaces. The projections extend from the conductor sites generally parallel to one another and are disposed to mate the contact surfaces while providing spaces therearound to receive and accommodate the components. The insulator body preferably is a unitary molded body which includes the projections. An axially compressible conductive means extends through each of the hollow projections from the respective conductor site to an exposed end at the distal end of the respective projection.

  • Patent number: 4632488
Abstract: An electrical connector having strain relief and integral means for clamping and manually unclamping an electrical cord. The connector includes a housing having a compartment, disposed within a forward portion of the housing, for receiving an electrical device. An array of ratchet teeth is disposed rearward of the forward portion and is disposed circumferentially about an inner wall portion of the compartment. An inner wall portion of the housing disposed between the array of ratchet teeth and a rear entrance aperture of the housing has formed therein a circumferential groove. A member inserted into the housing has a cord clamping component integrally connected to a strain relief component through a bushing component. The bushing component has a pawl engageable with the array of ratchet teeth to provide a ratchet.

  • Patent number: 4609795
Abstract: An electrical switch comprising a moveable contact member resiliently biased to have an electrical contact portion thereof urged into spaced relationship with an electrical contact portion of a fixed member to open the switch and to have another protruding portion thereof disposed for pressure engagement with a cam surface of a reciprocally moveable actuator to urge the electrical contact portions of the contact member into electrical engagement with one another for closing the switch, and a dielectric barrier member carried on the actuator in predetermined positional relationship with the cam surface for movement out of a position between the electrical contact portions, before the switch is closed, to permit the electrical engagement of the contact portions with one another and for movement back into the position between the electrical contact portions, after the switch is open, to prevent the undesired effects of contact bounce.
