  • Patent number: 10505314
Abstract: An electrical connector having a housing with a shrouded latch. The shrouded latch has a latch arm which extends between shrouded latch walls. The shrouded latch walls have first projections and second projections. A connector position assurance device is positioned proximate to and movable relative to the shroud latch and the latch arm between a first position and a second position. The connector position assurance includes side members with inner surfaces positioned proximate to the shrouded latch walls. The side members have first projection receiving recesses which cooperate with the first projections and the second projections when the connector position assurance device is in the first position. • Patent number: 10431968
Abstract: A conductor positioning fixture includes a base and a retainer member. The base includes a positioning platform and a wedge projecting upward from a top surface of the positioning platform. The base receives a cable on the top surface of the positioning platform such that exposed segments of first and second conductors of the cable extend along opposite sides of the wedge. The retainer member is mounted to the base and movable relative to the base along a longitudinal axis between a retracted position, at which the retainer member is spaced apart from the wedge, and an extended position, at which the retainer member overlaps the wedge. As the retainer member moves from the retracted position towards the extended position, the retainer member engages and forces the exposed segments of the first and second conductors into designated presentation positions.

  • Publication number: 20190131754
Abstract: A termination machine includes a ram, a shearing arm, and a toggle mechanism. The ram moves reciprocally relative to a stationary anvil between an extended position and a retracted position during a crimp stroke and crimps a terminal against the anvil while moving towards the extended position. The shearing arm is mounted to the ram and moves with the ram along a portion of the crimp stroke. The shearing arm includes a blade at a distal end thereof and a post projecting laterally from the shearing arm. The toggle mechanism is operatively connected to the post of the shearing arm. The toggle mechanism selectively toggles the shearing arm between a cutting position and a non-cutting position of the shearing arm relative to the ram. The blade of the shearing arm projects farther beyond a crimp end of the ram in the cutting position than in the non-cutting position.

  • Publication number: 20190103737
Abstract: A wire preparation device includes a motor, a device housing coupled to the motor, and a wire spinner held by the device housing. The wire spinner is mechanically connected to the motor via power coupling components. The wire spinner extends to a wire end that protrudes from the device housing. The wire spinner includes a collet sleeve defining a channel configured to receive an end of one or more wires of a cable therein through an opening at the wire end. The wire spinner further includes an outer collar surrounding the collet sleeve and selectively movable relative to the collet sleeve to force the collet sleeve to contract radially inward for releasably securing the one or more wires within the channel. The wire spinner is rotated by the motor relative to the device housing to untwist or straighten the one or more wires secured within the collet sleeve.

  • Patent number: 8887380
Abstract: A wire stop assembly is provided for a terminal crimping machine that crimps a terminal to a wire. The terminal crimping machine includes a crimping zone. The wire stop assembly includes a wire stop member having a stop surface configured to engage the wire to limit an amount of travel of the wire in the crimping zone. The wire stop member is movable relative to the crimping zone in a floating direction. A biasing mechanism is configured to exert a biasing force on the wire stop. The biasing force provides a resistance to the movement of the wire stop member in the floating direction.
