    Abstract: A sound damping wallboard and methods of forming a sound damping wallboard are disclosed. The sound damping wallboard comprises a gypsum layer with a gypsum surface having an encasing layer. The encasing layer is partially removed to expose the gypsum surface and form a gypsum surface portion and a first encasing layer portion on the gypsum layer. A sound damping layer is applied to the gypsum layer to cover at least part of the gypsum surface portion and the encasing layer portion.

    Abstract: According to the present invention, a washer is provided for a self drilling screw or like fastening device through which the fastening device passes, said washer defining a cavity capable of capturing the retaining drill chips as they are formed. The washer may include means for positively locating the washer on and over the drill point of the fastening device. The cavity can be formed by a skirt region adapted to surround the fastening device and in one aspect the cavity may include a mastic or like substance capable of securely holding drill chips.
