Patent number: 11931613Abstract: A fire suppression nozzle can include a first fluid channel configured to be in fluid communication with a first fluid having a first flow velocity and a second fluid channel configured to be in fluid communication with a second fluid having a second flow velocity. A mixer can be disposed between the first fluid channel and the second fluid channel such that the mixer is configured to induce streamwise vorticity in at least the first fluid exiting first fluid channel to cause mixing of the first fluid and the second fluid to reduce a flow speed of a mixture of the first fluid and the second fluid.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 2021Date of Patent: March 19, 2024Assignee: Carrier CorporationInventors: Paul M. Johnson, Duane C. McCormick, May L. Corn, Sudarshan N. Koushik, Mikhail Morozov, Changmin Cao, Christopher T. Chipman, Keith A. Post

Patent number: 10960985Abstract: A method for integrating an application into a flight deck includes receiving, by the flight deck, an identification of the application for integrating into the flight deck, wherein the application is running on a portable electronic device (PED) separate from the flight deck. The method also includes transmitting, by the flight deck, the identification of the application to the PED. The method additionally includes locating an application window corresponding to the application on a display of the PED and reading pixel data corresponding to the application window on the display of the PED. The method further includes transmitting the pixel data from the PED to the flight deck and integrating the application into the flight deck using the pixel data.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2018Date of Patent: March 30, 2021Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: Keith L. Johnson, Peter J. Batsakes, Brandon S. Uttech

Publication number: 20170280930Abstract: A cooking device, system and method are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, the method requires a microwavable cooking sheet to be provided, wherein the microwavable cooking sheet is comprised of a single layer of a primary material that is non-plastic and wherein the primary material has a weight of between 18 pounds per 3000 square feet and 60 pounds per 3000 square feet. The microwavable cooking sheet may be wetted and then wrapped completely around food to be cooked in a microwave. The food is cooked in the microwave with the wet microwavable cooking sheet wrapped around the food, such that a pressure increase of at least 3/16th of an inch of H2O is built-up within the microwavable cooking sheet.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 22, 2017Publication date: October 5, 2017Inventors: Abe Johnson, Keith L. Patent number: 8386167Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer-readable media described herein provide for the display of taxi route control point information in conjunction with an alphanumeric taxi route display in an aircraft. Taxi route data is received and compared with airport map information to determine any taxi route control points along the taxi route. Information associated with the taxi route control points is then collected and displayed on a display unit of the aircraft in conjunction with an alphanumeric display of the taxi route. The information associated with the taxi route control points may include ATC clearance information, runway and taxiway status information, runway orientation information, runway and taxiway traffic information, or taxi route information such as distance remaining to the taxi route control point.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2008Date of Patent: February 26, 2013Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: Samuel T. Clark, Keith L. Johnson, Andrew D. Neff, Roglenda R. Bowe

Publication number: 20030146408Abstract: An aqueous liquid aircraft runway deicer composition having minimal catalytic oxidation effect upon carbon-carbon composites which contains between about 20 and about 25 weight % of an alkaline earth metal carboxylate, between about 1 and about 15 weight % of an alkaline earth metal carboxylate, between about 1 and 35 weight % of an aliphatic alcohol, between about 0.01 and about 1 weight % of an alkali metal phosphate, between about 0.01 and about 1 weight % of an alkali metal silicate, and up to about 1% by weight of a triazole. A process for producing such a liquid aircraft runway deicer blends an alkali metal hydroxide, an alkali metal phosphate and an alkali metal silicate in aqueous solution and reacts a carboxylic acid with the hydroxide in the solution to create an alkali metal carboxylate solution at a pH of about 14.2. A minor amount of a triazole is added when the pH is below 15.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 26, 2002Publication date: August 7, 2003Inventors: John O. Moles, John L. Maier, Keith L. Johnson, Susan D. Royer
