  • Publication number: 20040035447
Abstract: A vehicle washing apparatus and method utilizes an arch shaped support structure spanning the width of a washing area in which the vehicle is positioned. The arch shaped support structure comprises a rigid frame assembly with a pair of vertical support columns that move on a track along the sides of the vehicle. Attached to the support structure is a spray bar assembly and drive system. The spray bar assembly of preferred embodiments of the present invention has a first end and second end and is attached to the arch support structure at said ends by way of a first connecting member and a second connecting member respectively which are preferably configured as roller assemblies which engage guide. Also attached to the ends of the spray bar assembly are cables, lines, chains or the like connecting to a pair of counterweights that counter the weight of the spray bar assembly and facilitate easy movement of same within the support structure.

  • Patent number: 6282746
Abstract: A blower assembly for an automatic car wash is provided. The blower assembly includes a housing, an impeller, a fan motor, an oscillation motor and an oscillation linkage assembly. The impeller is rotatively disposed in the housing. The housing includes an egress spout. The fan motor is rigidly connected to the housing. The linkage assembly mechanically relates the oscillation motor to the fan motor and housing and oscillates both. In the preferred embodiment, the motor and housing are rotatably supported on both axial sides of the motor and the motor shaft and motor housing drive substantially the same axis of rotation.

  • Patent number: 4969272
Abstract: A drier for a car wash comprising overhead air manifolds and fans, a multiplicity of depending sleeves or cloth ducts extending from the manifolds, the cloth ducts being of various lengths to respectively blow and strip water from the hood and roof of the automobile, the cloth ducts having restrictions in the air discharging end portions to accelerate the air to maintain the ducts in stationary condition and to maintain the ducts as stiff and rigid, there being side cloth air ducts also with tapered interior contours defining restrictions for accelerating the flow of air. The ducts also having oblong-shaped discharge openings at their end portions to shape the pattern of air flowing therefrom to spread the air across the relevant areas of the automobile body.
