Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system and method for media content distribution. In one exemplary embodiment, a method is provided and includes receiving a request from a user for a replacement copy of a specific media content. The request includes an indication from the user that they have an original copy of the specific media content. Media validation information is received from the user to validate the original copy of the specific media content. The replacement copy of the specific media content is provided to the user based on the media validation information. In one embodiment, providing the replacement copy of the specific media content to the user based on the media validation information comprises conditioning a payment action for the replacement copy based on the media validation information.
