  • Patent number: 7644766
Abstract: A flushing device (20) comprising an inner sleeve (21), axially slidable relative to an outer sleeve (23). The inner (21) and outer (23) sleeves cooperate to define an inner passage (32) for the flow of a fluid, and are permanently coupled such that there is substantially no rotational movement between the two sleeves. The inner passage (32) has an inlet (22b) and an outlet (22a). The outer sleeve (23) has a plurality of flushing outlets (33) which, when the flushing device (20) is in an open condition allow fluid to be diverted from the inner passage (32). The flushing device (20) also comprises an indexing mechanism (80) which indexes between a first position, wherein the plurality of flushing outlets (33) are blocked from the internal passage (32) such that the flushing device (20) is in a closed condition, to a second position, wherein the plurality of flushing outlets (33) register with the internal passage (32) such that the flushing device (20) is in the open condition.

  • Publication number: 20090126936
Abstract: An actuating mechanism (111) comprising an inner member (113) and an outer member (115) axially slidable relative to each other, the inner and outer members (113, 115) cooperating to define an internal passage (117) for the flow of a fluid therethrough. The inner member (113) being configured such that upon a predetermined change in pressure between a first region (119) and a second region (120) the actuating mechanism (111) is caused to move between a first condition and a second condition.

  • Publication number: 20080277880
Abstract: A connector assembly (11) comprising a first hollow member which may be in the form of a first casing (13), and a second hollow member which may be in the form of a second casing (15). The first casing (13) has a first end (17) adapted to releasably retain a second end (21) of the second casing (15) therein. The connector assembly (11) further comprises a jacket (33) secured around a first outer portion adjacent the first end (17) of the first casing (13), and a second outer portion adjacent the second end (21) of the second casing (15). In use the jacket (33) bears against or is adjacent to a wall of a bore of a well. A sealed cavity (35) is defined between the jacket (33) and the outer portions of the casings (13, 15). When the connector (11) is assembled the cavity (33) is filled with a fluid and is in fluid communication with a vent (41).

  • Patent number: 4492005
Abstract: The present invention provides a conduit clamp comprising means for securing a conduit such as a hose to another structure, a pair of jaws arranged to be clamped around a conduit, means on one side of a first jaw arranged to engage pivotally with complementary means on the corresponding side of a second jaw, means for closing the jaws into clamping engagement with a conduit which closing means comprises an open sided recess in one jaw, a locking pin mounted in an aperture in the other jaw and a lever pivotally attached to the locking pin, the arrangement being such that when the lever is moved to a first position the locking pin is released from and then pivoted away from the recess and when the lever is moved to a second position the locking pin is moved into the recess and then locked thereinto. The clamp of the present invention is particularly envisaged for sub-sea operation such as in oil drilling but it can be used for mining and industrial applications which are not underwater.

  • Patent number: 4490891
Abstract: The present invention provides a line clamp comprising means for securing a member, and means for clamping the member to a line such as a wire line wherein the means for clamping the member to a line comprises a first clamp body portion comprising a cam mounted for partial rotation and being connected to the means for securing a member, a second clamp body portion comprising a further cam mounted for partial rotation, means being provided for detachably securing the second clamp body portion to the first clamp body portion and said cams being so located that when the first and second clamp body portions are secured together, a line may be clamped between them, said cams comprising working surfaces having profiles with relatively low portions flanked by relatively high portions and said line being normally clamped by the said relatively low portions.

  • Patent number: 4485530
Abstract: The present invention provides a conduit clamp comprising a pair of jaws, said jaws comprising respective, opposed recesses arranged to abut against sides of a conduit, said jaws comprising means for pivotally connecting them together at one end, one of said jaws comprising an aperture, and the other of said jaws comprising a twist lock means, such that, to close the jaws and clamp a conduit, the twist lock means is inserted in the aperture and partially rotated, means also being provided for securely attaching the clamp to a stable structure. The clamp of the present invention is particularly useful for clamping relatively small diameter conduits such as electrical conduits and hose lines to a permanent structure. It is particularly envisaged for use underwater but can be used for mining and industrial applications which are not underwater.
