Publication number: 20070291757Abstract: We describe techniques for storing and processing data captured in large volumes from digital mobile phone networks. One technique inputs a stream of messages, writes sequential sets of message parameters into a first FIFO, at an entry point; reads the parameters from an exit point; and writes the read parameters into a second data structure. Importantly in this technique the entry point and the exit point are separated by predetermined minimum length defined in terms of a number of the sets of parameters and/or a time. Some preferred implementations also include a last value data store or bucket to store one or more most recent previous values of message parameters.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 27, 2004Publication date: December 20, 2007Inventors: Robert William Albert Dobson, Keith Reed, Christopher Greening

Patent number: 7249313Abstract: A wizard is utilized when creating a server-based transactional Web page application. The wizard keeps track of the interdependencies of the Web pages, any data accesses required for any of the Web pages, and any rules for presenting a different sequence of Web pages based upon differing aspects of anticipated user input. The wizard can then be used to access the required data if a user selection is made to download the application and run the application off-line at a client that is disconnected from the network. When running off-line, the wizard plays back the downloaded pages of the application in a sequence dependent upon the tracked interdependencies and received user input. When running off-line, the wizard controls the dynamic presentation of the downloaded pages and provides the required data to enable the transactional pages of the application to be completed.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2002Date of Patent: July 24, 2007Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Michael Wayne Brown, Jerry Walter Malcolm, Aaron Keith Reed, Cristi Nesbitt Ullmann

Patent number: 7212553Abstract: A fiber laser including doped-core fiber having inner and outer cladding is optically pumped by plurality of diode-lasers. Light emitted by the diode-lasers is coupled into a single multimode optical fiber. Light from the multimode optical fiber is directed to a wavelength selective reflecting device that is partially reflective in a narrow reflection band about a peak reflection wavelength. A portion of the light having the peak reflection wavelength is reflected from the wavelength selective reflecting device back along the multimode optical fiber and back into the plurality of diode-lasers. This locks the emitting wavelength of the light emitted from each of the diode-lasers to the peak reflection wavelength. Light at the emitting wavelength that is not reflected from the wavelength selective reflective device is coupled into the inner cladding of the doped-core fiber for optically pumping the fiber laser.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2004Date of Patent: May 1, 2007Assignee: Coherent, Inc.Inventors: Andrei Starodoumov, Murray Keith Reed

Patent number: 7184216Abstract: An optical pulse extender includes a delay loop formed by a plurality of mirrors and a graded reflectivity beamsplitter. The mirrors and the beamsplitter are configured and aligned such that a pulse to be broadened makes a predetermined number of round trips in the delay loop and is incident on a different zone of the beamsplitter after each round trip. The different zones of the beamsplitter have different reflection values and different transmission values. These values are selected such that the pulse extender delivers a plurality of temporally and spatially separated replica pulses each thereof having about the same energy. The delivered replica pulses together provide an extended pulse having a longer duration than the input pulse. The replica pulses may be passed through a beam homogenizer to spatially homogenize the temporal characteristics of the extended pulse.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2006Date of Patent: February 27, 2007Assignee: Coherent, Inc.Inventors: Sergei V. Govorkov, Luis A. Spinelli, William Eugene White, Murray Keith Reed

Patent number: 7010566Abstract: In an Internet processor, it is determined when a potential transmission of information over an Internet connection is about to occur. When a transmission is about to occur, a message is displayed to the user setting forth the information about to be transmitted, and indicating the address of the Internet server to which the information is about to be transmitted. The user of the Internet processor is given the option of canceling the transmission or continuing with the transmission.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 1999Date of Patent: March 7, 2006Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Jeffrey Allen Jones, Aaron Keith Reed, Douglas Scott Rothert
