  • Publication number: 20240151281
Abstract: A ball ramp caliper brake is disclosed. The brake can include a housing having an actuator side with a first pad nearer thereto and a carrier side with a second pad nearer thereto; the actuator side including ball ramps on an inner part, and threaded holes, the carrier side including housing holes therethrough; bolts respectively passing through one of the housing holes and respectively threaded into one of the threaded holes, to thereby compress a respective spring against the first pad; a lever having ball ramps facing the actuator side ball ramps; and a plurality of balls each being between respective ones of the ball ramps; wherein the springs are positioned coplanar with a radial center of the ball ramps, such that force of the springs provides constant compressive load on the ball ramps, and such that the force does not cause the first pad to tip.

  • Publication number: 20240075002
Abstract: A creatine composition comprising a base component, a dianion component, and a creatine component. In some exemplary embodiment, the base component and dianion component can at least be partially reacted before being added to the creating component. On a dry weight basis, the base component can comprise between about 7-20% of the composition by weight, the dianion component can comprise between about 35-50% of the composition by weight, and the creatine component can comprise between about 30-60% of the composition by weight. In embodiments where the base component and dianion component are first reacted to form a base dianion component, the base dianion component can comprise between about 40-65% of the composition by weight. The creatine component can comprise between about 35-60% of the composition by weight with the remainder of the composition being composed of deionized water (i.e., between about 0-10% of the composition by weight).

  • Publication number: 20080064276
Abstract: A cooling system for a marine vessel is configured to allow all cooling water to flow out of the cooling circuit naturally and under the influence of gravity when the marine vessel is removed from the body of water. All conduits of the cooling circuit are sloped downwardly and rearwardly from within the marine vessel to an opening through its transom. Traps are avoided so that residual water is not retained within locations of the cooling system after the natural draining process is complete. The opening through the transom of the marine vessel is at or below all conduits of the cooling system in order to facilitate the natural draining of the cooling system under the influence of gravity and without the need for operator intervention.

  • Patent number: 7206819
Abstract: The present invention provides private namespaces for active computing environments. The invention uses one or more “compute capsules”. A compute capsule is a private, portable, persistent environment. Each compute capsule comprises an arbitrary set of active processes and their associated state information. In one embodiment, compute capsules provide a private, customizable view of a shared file system, so that users can modify arbitrary files without the expense of providing each person with a separate and complete file system image. In one embodiment, the invention provides environments with different personalities, each of which can be contained within a capsule. For example, a user can have one capsule for normal desktop usage, a fail-safe capsule with a minimal environment and no external dependencies, capsules for work-related and personal activities, etc. In one embodiment, capsules are given access rights.

  • Patent number: 7162719
Abstract: The present invention is for aggregate resource management of active computing environments. According to one or more embodiments of the present invention a compute capsule is provided. A capsule encapsulates an active computing environment. An active computing environment comprises one or more processes and the complete state necessary for the execution of those processes. Within the operating system, compute capsules are promoted to first class objects. Once promoted to first class object status, the compute capsule can be assigned resources, subjected to auditing constraints, and subjected to security policies. In one embodiment, resource management algorithms are applied to the promoted compute capsules. In another embodiment, a compute capsule that encapsulates a user's computing session can be assigned a guaranteed share of computing resources. In another embodiment, compute capsules are restricted from accessing the network or certain portions of the file system.

  • Patent number: 6944860
Abstract: The present invention provides a representation and encapsulation of active computing environments. In accordance with one or more embodiments of the present invention a “compute capsule” is implemented. Each compute capsule serves to represent and encapsulate an active computing environment. An active computing environment comprises one or more active processes and their associated state information. The associated state information is information in a form that can be understood by any computer and tells the computer exactly what the processes in the capsule are doing at any given time. In this way, the compute capsule is a host-independent encapsulation that can be suspended on one computer, moved to a new computer, and re-started on the new computer where the new computer is binary compatible.

  • Patent number: 6863548
Abstract: A method and apparatus for improving the performance of an edge launch electrical connector. Two or more edge vias are established along an edge face of a planar circuit module, such as a single- or multi-layer PCB, integrated circuit on a ceramic or organic substrate or a ceramic or organic package, thereby providing a short path from one or more of the substrate assembly's ground planes to a ground associated with the edge launch electrical connector, reducing jitter and providing a solution with low insertion and return losses. The two edge vias may be standard vias, castellations or wires or lines deposited, printed, painted, secured or put in contact with an edge face of the planar circuit module and are arranged at each side of the signal line thereby providing additional electromagnetic shielding. Optionally, an air line may be established to increase the operational cut-off frequency and/or improve electrical performance.

  • Publication number: 20050024885
Abstract: An auxiliary light assembly is provided for a tractor having a front-mounted implement. The assembly includes a lower support and an upper support pivotal with respect to the lower support. The lower support has a cylindrical member which is attached to a frame. Detent recesses are formed in an upper end surface of the lower support. The upper support has a lamp housing attached to an end of a support rod, and a detent member. The detent member is selectively received by the recesses to releasably hold the upper support in selected positions relative to the lower support. A bushing member is received by the support members to maintain axial alignment thereof. A spring is received by the support members, and is biased to urge the support members towards each other.
