  • Patent number: 5018898
Abstract: For an assembly comprising a shaft (106) and an article (104) mounted on the shaft, a device (116) mounted on the shaft prevents movement of the article (104) along the shaft towards the device. The device preferably comprises a ring (116).To protect the ring from accidential blows which may dislodge it, the assembly includes a cap (120).To simplify manufacture of the ring, the projections of "noses" (118) are provided separately, preferably as part of the cap.

  • Patent number: 4626113
Abstract: A cage for a radial ball bearing comprises an annular body of resilient material formed with pockets for reception of the balls as a snap fit and prongs for guiding the balls into the pockets when the annular body is fitted in the bearing from a side thereof. A retainer ring is mounted on the guide prongs to maintain the same cord distance between the prongs and thereby restrict deformation of the annular body so as to prevent ejection of the annular body under the ball-to-cage contact forces in the operation of the bearing.

  • Patent number: 4541741
Abstract: A sealing device for a bearing between a rotor and a shaft comprises two annular discs mounted one on the rotor and the other on the shaft, and an annular brush screen having the filaments thereof compressed transversely between annular sealing surfaces on the two discs. The outer periphery of one disc has a flange which surrounds the brush screen, and the inner periphery of the other disc has a flange which projects through the bore of the screen, the discs co-operating to form a casing which encloses and protects the brush screen. The sealing device can be mounted on one of the bearing rings of a ball bearing to form a self contained bearing assembly.

  • Patent number: 4533265
Abstract: A rolling bearing assembly fitted with seals for a bearing chamber between two relatively rotatable components of the assembly. Each seal is mounted on one of the components and has a resilient sealing lip in sliding contact with a sealing surface on the other component, the lip being deflected by the sealing surface in a direction away from the bearing chamber under normal running conditions. The side of the lip facing the chamber is formed with grooves arranged to permit air to flow past the seal in the event of the lip being drawn inwardly towards the bearing chamber by a reduced pressure therein. The side of the lip may be provided with ribs instead of grooves.
