  • Patent number: 10334853
Abstract: Compositions suitable for topical use to treat ectoparasite infestations are described. The compositions are suitable for use on the hair of humans or animals, without the need for pharmaceuticals or medicaments. The compositions are essentially nonaqueous and non-Newtonian, such that the compositions can be controllably delivered either manually or through use of a dispensing means. One such exemplary dispenser/applicator is described. Although the compositions are otherwise substantially free of water, they exhibit good risibility characteristics and pseudoplastic rheology. Methods for the use of the nonaqueous compositions and kits containing the compositions are also presented.

  • Publication number: 20170354533
Abstract: Ectoparasite treatment devices utilizing heated air and related treatment methods. In some embodiments, the device may comprise a heating assembly positioned within a housing that is configured to generate heated air and a blower, such as a fan, for moving the heated air. The device may further comprise an air diffuser configured to receive heated air from the blower and to mix the heated air to increase uniformity of temperature of the heated air. A tip comprising a plurality of tines with ports may be removably coupled with the housing. The tip may be fluidly coupled with the diffuser. A temperature sensor and temperature control electronics may be configured to use temperature data and adjust the heating assembly such that the heated air delivered through the tip is maintained between a minimum temperature of about 54 degrees Celsius and a maximum temperature of about 62 degrees Celsius.

  • Patent number: 9746194
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for the generation of directed vapor from a liquid source. Vaporization takes place within a device capable of confining boiling to a geometrically small volume, and expelling it as heated vapor via capillary vaporization. The foregoing is accomplished through the use of a lightweight, compact and portable personal vaporization device that generates heated vapor by the flash boiling of small volumes of aqueous liquid in a safe and energy-efficient manner. Further, the production of vapor absent microbes in aqueous systems is accomplished through the combination of microporous componentry and flash vaporization. The apparatus and methods are directed toward personal humidification for comfort and therapeutic purposes in the case of aqueous liquids, but may also be used with other, non-aqueous liquids.

  • Publication number: 20090224064
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for the low energy flash-like vaporization of liquids and the release of the resulting vaporized liquid into the atmosphere in the form of a visible plume, mist or cloud. Vaporization is occasioned in a geometrically small device capable of producing vaporized liquid that varies little in composition in comparison to the starting liquid feed to the device. The apparatus and method are primarily directed towards the treatment of small areas for residential air fragrancing, odor elimination, treatment of insects or pests, air sanitization, air and surface antibacterial or antimicrobial treatment, administration of personal pharmaceuticals or medicaments, as well as other ambient air or surface modification by way of gas, vapor or droplet distribution.

  • Patent number: 5112514
Abstract: The present invention provides stable bleach activator granules comprising:a) a peroxygen bleach activator having the structure: ##STR1## wherein R is C.sub.1-20 branched or straight chain alkyl, alkoxylated alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, aryl, substituted aryl, alkylaryl; R' and R" are independently H, C.sub.1-4 alkyl, aryl; and L is a leaving group;b) a pliable binding material selected from materials having a melting completion temperature of greater than about 40.degree. C.; and, optionally,c) a filler material. These bleach activator granules are combined with a detergent base which contains an oxidant bleach to provide an activated oxidant detergent composition.
