  • Publication number: 20210054206
Abstract: A composition includes specific amounts of a block polycarbonate-polysiloxane, a core-shell impact modifier, and, optionally, a block polyestercarbonate. The core-shell impact modifier has a core that includes polydimethylsiloxane or poly(butyl acrylate) or both, and a shell includes a poly(methyl methacrylate). The block polyestercarbonate-polysiloxane and the block polyester-carbonate are present in a total amount of greater than 60 weight percent to 99 weight percent. And the block polyestercarbonate-poly-siloxane contributes 0.3 to 0.7 weight percent of dimethylsiloxane units to the composition. Also described are an article comprising the composition, and a method of additive manufacturing utilizing the composition.

  • Patent number: 10882956
Abstract: A polyetherimide composition includes specific amounts of a polyetherimide, a block polyestercarbonate, a block poly-carbonate-polysiloxane, and a core-shell impact modifier in which the core includes a polysiloxane and the shell includes a poly(alkyl (meth)acrylate). Relative to a corresponding composition lacking the core-shell impact modifier, the polyetherimide composition exhibits increased impact strength while substantially retaining flame retardancy. Also described are associated articles, including articles formed by additive manufacturing, and a method of additive manufacturing.

  • Publication number: 20200231753
Abstract: A method for modifying a polyimide includes reacting a first polyimide with an amine to produce a second polyimide having an anhydride-amine stoichiometry of ?2 to ?40 mol % and reacting the second polyimide with a monoanhydride, a bis(anhydride), a bis(ether anhydride) or a tetracarboxylic acid to produce a final polyimide having an anhydride-amine stoichiometry of ?1 to 2 mol %.

  • Patent number: 10202492
Abstract: A thermoplastic composition is described herein including a first polyetherimide sulfone having a glass transition temperature of 250 to 290° C., and a second polyetherimide sulfone having a glass transition temperature of 230 to 249° C. The composition has an advantageous combination of optical properties including improved yellowness index, transmission, and haze. A method of manufacturing the thermoplastic composition and articles including the thermoplastic composition are also described. A method for improving the optical properties of a thermoplastic composition is also disclosed, where the method includes melt mixing the first and second polyetherimide sulfones, each having a glass transition temperature as defined herein. The method provides a composition having at least one of improved yellowness, haze, and transmission.
