  • Publication number: 20120174439
Abstract: An article of footwear configured for prolonged casual and non-casual uses having an upper configured for easy installation and removal of the article of footwear with or without the use of fasteners, a sole, and a substantially continuous series of alternating ribs and grooves on a footbed of the sole extending from a forefoot region to a heel region. The ribs and grooves have base widths that are greater in an arch region of the footbed than the forefoot and heel regions of the footbed. The series of alternating transverse ribs and grooves are oriented from a lateral side region of the footbed to a medial side region of the footbed.

  • Patent number: 7191551
Abstract: Footwear systems include: (a) a holding device having an opening; (b) an article of footwear having a sole with a projection that extends through the opening; and (c) another article of footwear having a sole with a cavity into which the projection extends (thereby sandwiching the holding device between the soles). In other systems, the sole of one article of footwear includes two raised areas that fit through two openings provided in a holding device. The two raised areas fit into recessed areas provided adjacent a raised area of another footwear sole (thereby sandwiching the holding device between the soles). The projection(s) and/or raised area(s) on one sole may be sized and constructed so as to tightly fit (e.g., a friction fit) into corresponding cavity(ies) and/or recessed area(s) provided on the other sole, to thereby detachably hold the soles together and/or detachably engage with the holding device.

  • Patent number: 7138048
Abstract: An apparatus for removing particulates from a wastewater stream includes a chamber having a wastewater inlet and wastewater outlet which promotes a generally horizontal wastewater flow. A grating is provided in the chamber between the wastewater inlet and the wastewater outlet having a screen size for preventing the passage of particulates having greater than the select effective diameter from the wastewater inlet into the wastewater outlet. The grating is vertically inclined relative to the direction of the wastewater flow. A baffle within the chamber is configured to cooperate with the grating to generate a vortex in the wastewater having a velocity component parallel to the face of the grating which urges particles trapped by the grating along the grating toward a surface of the wastewater to suspend particles in the wastewater as the wastewater flows between the wastewater inlet and the wastewater outlet.
