  • Publication number: 20140262636
Abstract: A disc brake assembly having a guide pin disposed in a bore of an anchor bracket such that a guide pin axis is offset relative to a bore axis whereby there is provided at least one defined point of contact between only a portion of the guide pin and a portion of an inner surface of the bore. The guide pin includes at least one slot having a member, which is formed separate from the guide pin, and disposed therein to bias the guide pin in the bore thereby offsetting the guide pin axis relative to the bore axis. The member includes a first member formed from an elastomeric material and a second member formed from a metal material, wherein the second member is configured to retain the member in the slot.

  • Publication number: 20140262637
Abstract: A disc brake assembly having a guide pin disposed in a bore of an anchor bracket such that a guide pin axis is offset relative to a bore axis whereby there is provided at least one defined point of contact between only a portion of the guide pin and a portion of an inner surface of the bore. The guide pin includes a groove formed therein, the groove defines a groove axis which is offset relative to the guide pin axis, and a resilient member is disposed in the groove which is operative to bias the guide pin in the bore such that the guide pin axis is offset relative to bore axis to provide the at least one defined point of contact between only a portion of the guide pin and a portion of the inner surface of the bore.

  • Publication number: 20140265544
Abstract: A brake system includes a plunger assembly for actuating wheel brakes during a normal brake apply. The plunger assembly includes a motor mounted on the housing for driving an actuator. A first piston is connected to the actuator. The first piston is slidably mounted within the housing for pressurizing a first fluid chamber in the housing. A second piston is slidably mounted within the housing for pressurizing a second fluid chamber in the housing. A pump-less control valve arrangement includes a first control valve regulating the flow of fluid between a first fluid chamber and the first wheel brake. A second control valve regulates the flow of fluid between a second fluid chamber and the second wheel brake. An isolation valve arrangement switches the brake system between the normal braking mode and the manual push-through mode.

  • Publication number: 20140231191
Abstract: A disc brake assembly comprises an anchor bracket having a pair of arms, a caliper supported on the bracket and a non-rotatable vehicle component having a pair of lugs, each of the lugs provided with a non-threaded opening formed therethrough. The non-threaded openings receive fasteners installed in threaded openings of the bracket to secure the vehicle component to the bracket. The bracket includes on at least one of the arms a first shoulder at a transition between the first and second portions thereof. The vehicle component includes on at least one of the lugs a second shoulder having a shape which is generally complimentary to the shape of the first shoulder. When the vehicle component and bracket are secured together, selected surfaces of the first and second shoulders contact each other to substantially prevent movement of the bracket relative to the vehicle component.

  • Publication number: 20140131154
Abstract: A brake pedal unit for coupling to a brake pedal includes a housing and a pedal simulator housed within a simulation chamber formed in the housing. The pedal simulator includes a spring for providing force feedback. A first piston is mounted in the housing. The first piston is operable to generate brake actuating pressure at a first pressure output. A second piston is mounted in the housing. The first piston is operable to generate brake actuating pressure at a second pressure output. An input piston is connected to operate the pedal simulator during a normal braking mode, and wherein the input piston is coupled to actuate the first and second pistons during a manual push-though mode.

  • Publication number: 20140116817
Abstract: A disc brake assembly comprises: an anchor bracket having at least one bore formed therein, the bore defining a first axis; a brake caliper slidably secured to the anchor bracket; a pair of brake pads carried by the disc brake assembly; and at least one guide pin adapted to be disposed in the bore of the anchor bracket, the at least one guide pin defining a second axis; wherein when the at least one guide pin is disposed in the at least one bore of the anchor bracket, the second axis of the at least one guide pin is configured to be offset relative to the first axis of the at least one bore such that there is provided at least one defined point of contact between only a portion of a shank portion of the at least one guide pin and a portion of an inner surface of the at least one bore.

  • Publication number: 20140000740
Abstract: A damping element for attenuating hydraulic pressure pulses is integrated into a hydraulic chamber of a motor vehicle hydraulic system. The damping element includes a end cap support body and a membrane that fits over a portion of the support body. The membrane has a first side facing towards a source of hydraulic fluid and a second side facing away from the hydraulic fluid source. At least one space is provided between the second side of the membrane and the end cap support body to allow for deformation of the membrane under hydraulic pressure. The membrane has a collar with a lip seal provided for fitting into place on the wall of the hydraulic chamber. At least one second space for receiving hydraulic fluid is defined between the lip seal and a region of the membrane opposite the lip seal.
