  • Patent number: 11691687
Abstract: A solar wireless collector beacon (data hub) and associated method stores source data, received wirelessly from a data source, in a data buffer of the data hub. Sensor data is read from one or more onboard sensors of the data hub and stored as structural and/or environmental data in the data buffer. The environmental data is processed to determine an operating status of a vehicle being used with the data hub and an energy harvester of the vehicle is controlled to harvest energy from the vehicle based on the operating status. One or more of the operating status, the source data, and the environmental data is wirelessly transmitted from the data hub to an external device.

  • Patent number: 11604105
Abstract: An adhesive strain sensing pod includes at least one strain sensor, electronics for electrically sensing at least one strain signal from the at least one strain sensor, and a sensor adhesive for adhering the strain sensor to a surface of a structural element. The pod may have a protective case for protecting the strain sensor and the electronics and for transferring at least part of a force, pressing the pod against the surface, to press the strain sensor against the surface. The sensor adhesive may be a liquid adhesive contained in a fragile pouch that ruptures when the pod is forced against the surface, or may be a thermally activated adhesive film that is activated to bond the strain sensor to the surface. A protective film may protect the sensor adhesive prior to installation of the pod and is removed prior to installation of the pod on the surface.

  • Publication number: 20200092683
Abstract: A “sticker” location device includes a PCB with a processor and memory, a communicator for communicating with other location devices and a server, one or more sensors for determining an environment of the location device, and a power module. Some embodiments include GPS receivers and may serve as digital radio network hubs or bridges for other location devices. A method for tracking the location of assets uses these location devices attached to assets to sense an environment of the assets by comparing sensed environment to previously sensed environment, and communicating the changes in the environment from the location device to a server when the changes exceed a configurable threshold. Some embodiments include determining location with GPS and/or relaying signals from other location devices, and smart power management using low power digital radio modes unless sufficient energy is available for high power modes.

  • Patent number: 7152286
Abstract: A shoe clip (100) includes two members (10, 12) that attach together in positions above and beneath shoe laces (20), to grip the shoe laces (20) between them and position the clip (100) on the shoe (22). A first member (10) is shaped and sized to slide under one or more laces (10) of the shoe, without requiring unlacing thereof. A second member (12) rotatably attaches at one end to the first member and, after insertion of the first member (10) beneath the laces (10), rotates to overlie the first member (10). The members then fasten to one another at their free ends (15, 17), such that the members grip the laces (20) between them. The second member supports or is integral with a component that is to be attached to the shoe.
