  • Patent number: 5357754
Abstract: A catalyst deterioration-detecting device for an internal combustion engine has at least one catalyst arranged in an exhaust passage of the engine, for purifying exhaust gases emitted from the engine, first and second exhaust component concentration sensors arranged in the exhaust passage upstream and downstream of the catalyst, respectively. The catalyst deterioration-detecting device calculates an average value of an output value from the second exhaust component concentration sensor, calculates an output fluctuation width with respect to the average value, based on the output value from the second exhaust component concentration sensor, and determines whether the catalyst is deteriorated, based on the calculated average value and the calculated output fluctuation width. The detection of the catalyst deterioration is carried out when the engine is in a predetermined operating condition defined by engine temperature, engine speed and engine load.

  • Patent number: 5353773
Abstract: An air-fuel ratio control system for an internal combustion engine calculates an amount of fuel to be supplied to the engine in response to the rotational speed of the engine and a parameter indicative of load on the engine, and an amount of fuel injected into an intake passage and adhering to the inner surface of the intake passage, based upon a direct supply ratio and a carry-off ratio. A feedback correction value is set to such a value that an air-fuel ratio in exhaust gases from the engine becomes equal to a desired value, and the amount of fuel calculated as above is corrected by the direct supply ratio, the carry-off ratio, and the feedback correction value set as above. A control speed at which the feedback correction value is corrected is set based upon at least one of the direct supply ratio and the carry-off ratio.

  • Patent number: 5343846
Abstract: A control system for an internal combustion engine controls an amount of auxiliary air supplied to the engine in the following manner: Concentration of evaporative fuel contained in a gas purged from an evaporative emission control system into an intake passage of the engine is calculated based on a purging flow rate estimated based on operating conditions of the engine, and an output from a flowmeter arranged in the evaporative emission control system. A volume of the gas purged over a predetermined time period is calculated based on the output from the flowmeter. A parameter indicative of dynamic characteristics of the gas is calculated based on operating conditions of the engine. An amount of air contained in the purged gas drawn into a combustion chamber of the engine is calculated at least based on the concentration of evaporative fuel, the volume of the purged gas, and the parameter indicative of dynamic characteristics of the gas.

  • Patent number: 5261370
Abstract: A control system for an internal combustion engine corrects an amount of supply fuel to the engine based upon operating conditions of the engine as well as an estimated amount of adherent fuel adhering to the inner surface of the intake passage and an estimated amount of fuel carried off fuel adhering to the intake passage inner surface and carried into combustion chambers. The correction of the supply fuel amount is limited when the engine is operating in an idling condition. According to a further aspect of the invention, the adherent fuel amount and the carried-off fuel amount are corrected based upon a calculated amount of exhaust gases and a detected operating mode or valve timing of at least one of intake valves and exhaust valves.

  • Patent number: 5215061
Abstract: A control system for an internal combustion engine estimates an amount of adherent fuel adhering to the inner surface of the intake passage, as well as an amount of carried-off fuel evaporated from fuel adhering to the inner surface of the intake passage and carried into combustion chambers, determines an amount of supply fuel to be supplied to the engine, based upon operating conditions of the engine, the estimated adherent fuel amount, and the estimated carried-off fuel amount, and supplies the determined supply fuel amount into the intake passage. The control systems corrects the estimated adherent fuel amount and the estimated carried-off fuel amount, in response to an intake parameter which is changeable within the intake passage. The intake parameter includes an amount of evaporative fuel purged, valve operating characteristics of intake valves and/or exhaust valves, an amount of assist air supplied to fuel injection valves.

  • Patent number: 4593986
Abstract: A developing or peeling solution for developing or imagewisely peeling an alkali-type photosensitive film containing a suspension of released photosensitive film is regenerated by introducing one or more reagents and a gas for depositing the suspension in floating state and removing the floated deposit by a skimmer from the developing or peeling solution. The regenerated developing or peeling solution can be used again and again for the development or peeling.

  • Patent number: 4035189
Abstract: A resist image, which is excellent in adhesiveness and high in physicochemical strengths, can be obtained by using as a resist material a resin composition having such properties that when it is exposed to actinic rays, a latent image (cure-precursor) is formed therein, and when it is subjected to subsequent heating, only the latent image portion is selectively cured. An example of the above-mentioned resin composition is a latently curable epoxy resin composition composed essentially of (A) an epoxy resin prepolymer and (B) a compound having in the molecule at least two groups represented by the formulas (I) and/or (II), ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are individually a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or aryl group.
