  • Patent number: 7123748
Abstract: An image synthesizing device is operatively coupled to a plurality of cameras to accurately express the color and brightness of a synthesized image photographed. The image synthesizing device is configured to synthesize the images of the cameras by selecting with respect to an observation point on a surface being photographed the camera positioned closest to the observation point, designating the color and brightness values of the observation point photographed by that camera as the color and brightness values of the observation point, and conducting the same processing for the entire surface being photographed. Thus, among the cameras, the image synthesizing device selects the camera that is closest to the observation point and uses the color and brightness values of that camera. This arrangement results in selecting a camera that photographs a small area of the photographed surface per unit pixel. Consequently, a synthesized image having good color and brightness precision is obtained.

  • Publication number: 20060227138
Abstract: An image generating device and method for a vehicle that improves the image quality of the output image and provides images that can be better perceived by the driver. A camera allows adjustment of the image output range by manipulation from external to the camera, an image processing device performs manipulation of the camera and image processing of the image acquired by the camera and an image display device displays the image processed by the image processing device. The image output range of the camera can be adjusted corresponding to a signal from image processing device.

  • Publication number: 20060197761
Abstract: An image processor is disclosed for a vehicle having a plurality of cameras and a monitor that displays a panoramic image derived from multiple images generated by the plurality of cameras. The processor includes input buffers for storing camera image data captured through respective camera modules and output buffer for storing a panoramic image. The camera image data for generating the panoramic image are retrieved from input buffers. The camera image data are stored in an output buffer using an reconfigured address conversion table. The reconfigured address conversion table is an address conversion table which is obtained by reconfiguring an address conversion table when camera modules are assumed to be free of vehicle installation errors. The reconfiguration is performed on the basis of parameters which are used to correct vehicle installation errors of camera modules.

  • Publication number: 20060007339
Abstract: A picture frame input from an electronic camera is stored in an input-end buffer frame, and read therefrom in a CPU, where it is processed, using a reconstruction table defining a pixelwise image reconstruction and using a correction parameter defining a pixelwise brightness correction, having resultant data stored in an output-end frame buffer, where a corresponding picture frame is reconstructed to be output to a display.

  • Publication number: 20050030380
Abstract: A vehicular image providing apparatus which includes: an image-taking device which takes an image of a view of an area around a vehicle and generates a first pixelated image thereof; a processing unit which creates a second pixelated image from the first pixelated image; and an image presenting device which presents the second pixelated image. The second pixelated image is different in at least one of direction of line-of-sight and angle-of-view from the first pixelated image. The processing unit creates the second pixelated image, relating each pixel of the first pixelated image to a first two-dimensional variable, setting up a virtual image-taking device providing a virtual image, relating each pixel of the virtual image to a second two-dimensional variable, performing a transformation of variable between the first and second two-dimensional variables.
