  • Patent number: 10492586
Abstract: An applicator for a semi-solid material (e.g. lip balm) with an elastomeric material base cap has an interior tube long enough to cooperate with other structures to allow ejection of the plunger associated with the lip balm and its shaft by continued depression of the base cap. This allows easy replacement of the lip balm in the applicator when the original is used up. The applicator also has a tubular housing with interior guide hub with ribs configured and positioned to preclude spinning of the shaft of the plunger mounting the lip balm. A dispenser for flowable material (such as lotion) comprises a bellows mounted in a housing with an elastomeric material base cap at one end, and an end cap at the other end with a first part connected to the housing by screw threads, and a second part connected to the first part by a living hinge.

  • Patent number: 10172432
Abstract: An applicator for a stick product, such as lip balm, has a generally tubular housing closed at one end by an elastomeric base cap and at the other by an end cap. The base cap is connected to one end of a plunger shaft, and at the other end the shaft is connected to a tray holding a semi-solid mass of the stick product. The end cap is in the form of a mold so that the stick product may be molded onto the tray in situ. The end cap locks to the housing to cover the semi-solid mass, and when removed the base cap (e. g. durometer 70A), which is bistable, having two relaxed configurations, may be depressed to move the mass out of the housing. The plunger and stick product are easily replaced.

  • Publication number: 20180344011
Abstract: A simple applicator for a stick product, such as lip balm, includes a plastic hollow dome component with an open top and closed bottom and a main body component with closed side walls defining a hollow interior space, an open top, and an open bottom. Cooperating detachable fasteners releasably connect the components together. A flip top lid has a living hinge connection to the main body component to close its open top. A hollow interior space of the main body has a larger volume than that of the dome. There is sufficient stick product in the interior space so that after the stick product in the dome is depleted the applicator can be exposed to external energy, such as from a conventional microwave oven, to cause the stick product in the interior space to become fluid and flow into and refill the dome with stick product.

  • Publication number: 20140332026
Abstract: A hair treatment material applicator comprises a lid, a base, a hinge connecting the lid and base to allow pivotal movement of the lid and base with respect to each other from an open position to a closed position; and a bail pivotally mounted to the lid for pivotal movement from a use position above the lid to a latch position below the base holding the lid and base in the closed position. A compressible material, such as dense foam, is positioned in one of the lid and base; and a hair treatment material (such as highlighter, dye, bleach, protein treatment, etc.) is positioned in the other of the lid and base. The foam and material are positioned to allow strands of human hair to pass between them for uniform application of material to the strands. The hinge is an over-molded rubber hinge biasing the lid and base open.

  • Publication number: 20140034080
Abstract: A magnetic closure includes a stationary first permanent magnet in a first housing member, a second movable permanent in a second housing member, and a stationary either ferromagnetic material or third permanent magnet in the first housing member. The second magnet is moved by an actuator (e. g. slides in a linear first dimension) to move between a first position in which it is attracted to the ferromagnetic material or third magnet to hold the housing members together, and a second position in which it repels the first magnet to separate the housing members. The housing members may define a cosmetics case.

  • Publication number: 20120234336
Abstract: Human lip exfoliation is provided using a device to apply flowable exfoliant material to the user's lips, and then effecting powered vibration of a tip of the same device to gently exfoliate the user's lips. The device can include an exfoliator unit and a lip gloss unit, with a magnetic coupling between the units to hold them together until positively separated, yet movement of the lip gloss unit will not result in discharge of exfoliant. The exfoliator unit has a silicone applicator tip with a number of integral silicone bristles for contact with a user's lips. The tip is connected by a passage to a chamber containing exfoliant, and a check valve can be provided between the passage and chamber.
