  • Patent number: 7140152
Abstract: The present invention relates to a snow guard device for use on a sloped roof having a roof decking supported by a roof substructure. The roof decking may have a plurality of elongate corrugations transversely spaced therealong. The snow guard device includes a pair of posts anchored to longitudinal members mounted to the roof substructure and extending proud of the roof decking. The posts support a rail member, which extends transversely of the elongate corrugations. The snow guard device further includes a pair of mounting brackets, which are fastened to the rail member. The mounting brackets are oriented to extend upslope and substantially downwardly toward the roof decking. The brackets carry a plurality of snow barrier members therebetween for discouraging snow from downwardly sliding along the roof decking. The snow barrier members are positioned at a location upslope of the support means and are sized to correspond generally to the spacing between a pair of adjacent corrugations.

  • Publication number: 20050055889
Abstract: The present invention relates to a roof flashing assembly for use on a sloped roof surface having an elongate projection extending substantially upwardly therefrom in skewed relation thereto. The roof flashing assembly has a resilient, flexible, sleeve sized to fit over, and surround, the projection. The sleeve has a base portion, a neck portion and a passageway defined therebetween for receiving the projection therethrough. A bellows tube is formed on the neck portion to permit the sleeve to flex adaptively to accommodate for the skewed orientation of the projection relative to the sloped roof surface. The roof flashing assembly also includes a grommet which is positionable in surrounding relation with the projection. The grommet has three beveled lip members, which frictionally sealingly engage the exterior surface of the projection when urged in abutting relation therewith. An annular gasket positionable below the base portion of the sleeve, is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20040145098
Abstract: An energy absorber for use in a fall arrest system is disclosed and comprises a housing, a plunger and a compressible cushion. The housing has a tubular body and an end wall. The body defines a longitudinal axis. The end wall is secured to the body and has defined therethrough an aperture. The plunger includes a head disposed within said body and a rod extending from said head, through the aperture in the end wall, to a terminal end. The plunger is disposed at a rest position, whereat the head is relatively distal to the end wall, and is mounted to the housing for longitudinal movement between the rest position and an extended position, whereat the head is relatively proximal to the end wall. The cushion is disposed within the body between the end wall and the plunger head, for compression by the plunger upon said longitudinal movement thereof.

  • Patent number: 6185885
Abstract: A roof flashing assembly is disclosed, comprising a body member having a base portion, adapted to be rigidly sealingly mountable upon a roof surface in surrounding relation to projection therefrom, a boss portion extending from the base portion, having an inner boss surface which defines a passageway, extending through the boss portion, and adapted to receive an elongate member extending upwardly from the roof, an annular resilient gasket, having circumferentially extending first, second and third upper surface contours. The first contour defines a sealing surface adapted for resilient sealing contact with an outer surface of the elongate member at a location axially adjacent said base portion. The second contour defines a concave body portion, and the third contour defines a mounting surface which is rigidly sealingly mounted to the inner boss surface.

  • Patent number: 6168208
Abstract: A sealing grommet is for use in coupling in sealed relation a drain pipe depending from a roof and a co-operating leader pipe. The bottom end of the drain pipe is inserted into the top end of the co-operating leader pipe. The outside diameter of the drain pipe is smaller than the inside diameter of the co-operating leader pipe by an unspecified distance. The sealing grommet comprises an annular base portion having top, bottom, radially inner side and radially outer side surfaces. An annular interior wall portion extends upwardly from the base portion to terminate at a top edge, and is defined by opposed inner and outer wall surfaces. The interior wall portion has an overall inside diameter defined by the inner wall surface. A substantially resilient annular exterior wall portion extends upwardly and outwardly from the base portion in spaced apart relation to the annular interior wall portion, to terminate at a top edge, and is defined by opposed inner and outer wall surfaces.

  • Patent number: 5970667
Abstract: The invention provides a quickly installed and preferably reusable flashing unit for use in roofing or cladding of a building. The flashing is constructed of stainless steel sheet metal for superior corrosion resistance and to withstand rough handling as old roofing material is scraped off the flashing surfaces to prepare it for reuse. The flashing is assembled along joints between assembled flashing components. Each joint includes a resilient gasket between opposing edges of adjacent flashing components. Clips join the components together and resiliently compress the gasket between opposing edges of the adjacent components. After assembly around stacks, openings, edges or other roofing discontinuities, the flashing is incorporated into the roofing in a conventional manner.

  • Patent number: 5820092
Abstract: The invention provides a modular assembly kit for constructing a roof mounted support structure, for supporting air conditioners, ductwork, pipes, stacks, lighting and the like. The kit includes standard modular components which can be easily cut to length on site or adapted to any desired configuration with a minimum of preplanning. Each prefabricated module has interconnecting flanges and grooves for joining adjacent modules together in a slidable joint. The slidable joints facilitate positioning of modules during assembly, and set screws releasably lock the sliding joint producing a releasable moment resisting rigid connection between adjacent modules. The modules of the kit include post modules of adjustable height, elongate beam modules of uniform cross-section, and elongate transverse brace modules of adjustable length, and optionally pipe support saddles and beam support brackets. All modules have mating interconnecting flanges and grooves to enable simple assembly and disassembly.
