  • Patent number: 4605349
Abstract: An elastomeric sleeve is fitted within a spindle bore over a coaxial spring assembly used to actuate a drawbar clamp. The sleeve takes up the radial clearance space normally provided for the spring assembly, so that as the diameter of the spring assembly changes during compression cycles, the sleeve will be radially compliant and tend to keep the spring assembly centered, thereby minimizing vibrations while the spindle is rotated.

  • Patent number: 4604008
Abstract: Machine tools for cutting metal are provided having a polygon cross-sectional geometry self-centering, high torque transmitting, rotatable tool support bar that is movable along the longitudinal axis of the bar. The tool support bar is coupled to the drive mechanism for rotating the bar, at a point proximate to the exit of the bar from the machine, by a coupling having a slidably mating polygon geometry opening through which the bar passes. In an embodiment of the invention there is further provided means for releasably locking the tool support bar in a predetermined extended position.

  • Patent number: 4516044
Abstract: The cooling of an electric motor is achieved by a heat exchange apparatus having a cylindrical wall containing a continuous path fluid (e.g., liquid) passageway providing turbulent flow to a conveyed cooling fluid. Turbulent flow of the cooling fluid is obtained by the passageway's having a plurality of curvilinear passageway segments lengthwise oriented normal to the longitudinal axis of the cylindrical wall, connected together in pairs by passageway sections lengthwise oriented normal to the passageway segments and parallel to the longitudinal axis of the cylindrical wall.

  • Patent number: 4309600
Abstract: This invention has to do with an automatic manufacturing system and, more particularly, to a plurality of work stations to which a variety of workpieces are carried by a network of conveyors, in which means are provided to identify each workpiece and means are provided to direct the workpiece through a path variable in accordance with load conditions in the network having various work stations where selected operations are automatically performed on the workpiece.
