  • Publication number: 20100331017
Abstract: A system includes a context manager that stores, as a device catalog in a storage unit, attribute information and execution condition of a device from which an application acquires context information to execute a predetermined function and that selects a device which the application uses responsive to a request from the application. The application sends a collection policy of the context information relating a device which the application uses to the context manager. The context manager selects a device complying with the collection policy based on the collection policy from the application side and the attribute information and execution condition of the device stored in the device catalog. Upon receiving a context collection request from the application, the context manager provides the application with the context information collected by the selected device.

  • Publication number: 20090055541
Abstract: An access point performing a communication with a wireless terminal performing a communication according to a predetermined wireless communication specification acquires a connection parameter required for a communication based on the predetermined wireless communication specification from a connection parameter server which can be connected thereto through a network. The access point sets an access point connection parameter in the access point itself. The wireless terminal acquires a wireless terminal connection parameter by using a communication method not requiring setting from the access point in advance and sets it in the wireless terminal itself. This completes the setting for performing a communication based on the predetermined wireless communication specification and it is possible to start a communication based on the predetermined wireless communication specification between the wireless and access point.

  • Patent number: 7113798
Abstract: A simple base station device is installed in the entrance or the like of a building and a power OFF signal is supplied. A portable telephone set that has received the signal informs the simple base station of its telephone number, also informs a position management server of the same via a public base station device to register it, the position management server being located in a radio network, and switches OFF power for a radio section. An incoming call operation to the portable telephone set is carried out by referring to the registered content of the position management server. Thus, a power supply for a portable telephone set in a use prohibition area is reduced and no incoming call control is performed.

  • Patent number: 7065551
Abstract: In a data distribution method of distributing data selected for each of a plurality of user terminals from a distribution center to each user terminal through a communication network, the distribution center is notified of the contents of user operation for the data distributed to the user terminal. The distribution center receives a notification from the user terminal. Data to be subsequently distributed to the user terminal is selected by using the contents of the user operation contained in the notification from the user terminal. The selected data is distributed to the user terminal. A data distribution system, data distribution apparatus, and recording medium are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6625455
Abstract: A simple base station device 100 is installed in the entrance or the like of a building and a power OFF signal is supplied. A portable telephone set 101 that has received the signal informs the simple base station 100 of its telephone number, also informs a position management server 104 of the same via a public base station device 102 to register it, the position management server 104 being located in a radio network, and switches OFF power for a radio section. An incoming call operation to the portable telephone set 101 is carried out by referring to the registered content of the position management server 104. Thus, a power supply for a portable telephone set in a use prohibition area is reduced and no incoming call control is performed.

  • Patent number: 6415331
Abstract: A method of updating accumulated data with communication middleware and a server system capable of maintaining real-time characteristics for information and improving efficiency of a line is provided. Router side communication means and LAN side communication means perform control for communication on a LAN. Router side and LAN side buffer managing means perform management and notification for data transmitted and received on a radio network side and LAN side in a buffer. Communication continuing means executes processing for connection/reconnection to a client and acknowledgment for sending data packets as well as performing retransmission control and sequence control for application data when a line is disconnected. Also, communication continuing means determines whether data which has not been transmitted is new or old based on update information notified by data update monitoring means and prompts the client to update data.

  • Publication number: 20020049826
Abstract: An object distribution system can obtain memory without causing wasteful distribution or requiring erasure of memory by user and a memory management method in a portable terminal. The object distribution system includes a portable terminal and a server for distributing an object to the portable terminal connected by a network. The portable terminal includes a storage medium for storing the object, detecting means for detecting a remaining capacity of the storage medium becoming less than or equal to a preliminarily set threshold value, and transmitting means for transmitting a message for notifying a memory full condition of the storage medium to the server when the detecting means detects the remaining capacity of the storage medium becoming less than or equal to the threshold value.

  • Patent number: 6205137
Abstract: In a multimedia processing system, a switch receives, from a network, a request containing a control signal and a program signal when write mode is requested or a control signal only when read mode is requested, and establishes a path. Each of a number of processors receives the request when it is connected to the established path and extracts a control signal from the request. Each processor includes a LAN interface which is connected to a LAN interface of a storage unit. A controller receives the request from the switch via a LAN interface. The controller is also connected to the LAN interfaces of the processors and the storage unit for selecting one of the processors according to the request and controlling the switch and the storage unit to establish the path between the network and the selected processor so that it extracts a control signal from the request.

  • Patent number: 5920865
Abstract: An information server system is capable of optimization of multimedia data to be received from an information server depending upon transmission performance of a terminal for improving transmission efficiency and operability. The information server system is provided with an agent server as a gateway between a relatively low speed network, to which a terminal is connected, and a network connected to an information server, in which multimedia information forming one screen is divided into one or more image blocks and each block is transmitted therefrom with adding data amount and preference of thinning. The agent server is responsive to a demand for obtaining data from the terminal to the information server, determining thinning amount of data on the basis of the data amount and preference of thinning of respective blocks in the screen, added to the multimedia data from the information server depending upon transmission performance of the terminal.

  • Patent number: 5740160
Abstract: When a wireless network is newly added to one or more existing wireless networks, each of which has a network identifier, it is desirable that a network identifier of the newly added network can be automatically set. The newly added network includes a plurality of terminals. First, network identifiers of the existing networks are received for a predetermined time period and stored in each of the plurality of terminals in a network identifier setting mode. Then, a network identifier of the newly added wireless network is automatically determined based on the stored network identifiers of the existing wireless networks. The determined network identifier is set in each of the plurality of terminals and the terminal mode is switched from the network identifier setting mode to a normal mode in each of the plurality of terminals.
