  • Patent number: 5657655
Abstract: In a tandem mill system, at least one first type rolling mill is arranged in the upstream side and at least one second type rolling mill is arranged in the downstream side. The first type rolling mill is of the so-called work roll crossing mill in which a pair of work rolls are inclined with respect to a pair of back-up rolls supporting the work rolls and simultaneously crossed each other in a horizontal plane to control transverse thickness distribution of a strip. The second type rolling mill is of the so-called HC mill which controls the strip crown and shape by a combination of axial movement of intermediate rolls and work roll bending. Such an arrangement makes it possible to increase a capability of controlling the strip crown and shape, particularly, a capability of correcting the quarter buckle, and eliminate a fear of causing scratches on the strip and roll surfaces, with the result of improved production efficiency.

  • Patent number: 5587607
Abstract: A DRAM includes a package, a semiconductor chip housed in the package, and a plurality of leads each disposed from the outside of the package over the periphery of the semiconductor chip. The power supply potential is applied to some of the leads. Corresponding to one power supply lead, one power supply pad and one selection pad are formed. Corresponding to another power supply lead, another power supply pad and another selection pad are formed. Each of these two selection pads is connected or not connected to the corresponding power supply lead by bonding. As a result, one of four word configurations is selected. Since these two selection pads are disposed in the vicinity of the corresponding power supply leads, respectively, the number of times of bonding to one power supply lead is reduced.

  • Patent number: 5406817
Abstract: A rolling mill has a work roll and a back-up roll for supporting the work roll vertically and driving it. A plurality of horizontal support rollers contact the work roll at barrel diameter outside the rolling region and at a both horizontal sides of the work roll and act to fix the position of the work roll in both horizontal directions during rolling and to oppose horizontal rolling forces. In order to reduce the bending of the work roll during rolling, there are provided means for applying horizontal counterbending forces to the work roll comprising members e.g. rollers, contacting the work roll at locations axially further from the rolling region than the support rollers and actuator means for urging the members against the work roll. The counterbending forces being in the same direction as the net horizontal force applied to said work roll by said back-up roll and the material being rolled.

  • Patent number: 5281842
Abstract: A semiconductor memory device includes a first conductivity type well in a first conductivity type semiconductor substrate surrounded by a second conductivity type well, one of a memory cell and an external input circuit arranged on the first conductivity type well and the other disposed outside the second conductivity type well. A predetermined power supply voltage is applied to the second conductivity type well and the first conductivity type well is connected to ground. In the structure, charge carriers injected from the external input circuit are absorbed in the second conductivity type well. As a result, the charge carriers are prevented from reaching the memory cell and destroying data stored therein. Therefore, it is possible to miniaturize transistors and increase integration density of dynamic random access memory devices without degrading the source to drain dielectric strength.

  • Patent number: 5119656
Abstract: A rolling mill for rolling metal strip moving in a horizontal rolling direction, has work rolls which engage the strip and are supported vertically by backup rolls through which drive is applied. The work rolls are supported in the horizontal rolling direction by support rollers contacting them at locations confined to intermediate regions between the work regions and bearings. The work rolls are shiftable in the horizontal rolling direction. To provide control of the horizontal forces during rolling, there are position control means for the support rollers operable to move and locate the support rollers so as to shift the work rolls to a predetermined location at which the vertical axial plane of the work rolls is offset in the horizontal rolling direction from the vertical axial plane of the backup rolls. The support rollers maintain the work rolls at the predetermined location during rolling.

  • Patent number: 5058058
Abstract: A plurality of sense amplifiers (SAj), each of which is connected with each bit line pair extending from a memory cell array region of a dynamic random access memory for sensing and amplifying voltage difference between the bit line pair, are arranged along the longitudinal direction of the bit line pairs. • Patent number: 4962379
Abstract: An arbiter circuit is disclosed for processing requests made at least two subsystems in a multiprocessor system for access to a resource shared by the subsystems. The arbiter circuit includes an SR flip-flop composed of a pair of NAND gates. The flip-flop is operative in response to a time-staggered request signals from the subsystems to provide a request acknowledging signal to the shared resource. When two request signals are simultaneously supplied to the arbiter circuit, the outputs from the pair of NAND gates tend to stay at an intermediate level between the normal two distincitive logic levels, failing to produce an acknowledgment signal. However, the intermediate level of the NAND gate outputs is sensed by a NOR gate to a trigger a switching device into conduction, by means of which one of the intermediate NAND gate outputs is positively shifted to either of the active logic levels for the generation of an acknowledgement signal to the shared resources.

  • Patent number: 4947398
Abstract: Methods of controlling the wavelength and output power of a laser device with two intracavity etalons are disclosed, together with a wavelength monitor capable of detecting sidebands. A method is characterized by the usage of hot/cold parameter K which takes two values 0 and 1 indicating the cold and hot state of the device, respectively. The parameter K, which is reset to 0 at the start, is set to 1 when the laser beam is stabilized; it is reset to 0, whenever the lasing pause exceeds a predetermined time length. Preparatory starting steps are performed or omitted at the start, depending on the value of K. Another method is characterized by the adjustment of the intracavity etalons during the lasing pauses, in accordance with exponential functions with thermal time constants. The sideband detecting wavelength monitor comprises a single etalon whose free spectal region FSRm is selected with respect to that, FSR.sub.

  • Patent number: 4483165
Abstract: Gauge control method and apparatus for a multi-roll type upright rolling mill includes displaceable rolls which are movable not only in a first direction in which a material to be rolled is compressed but also in the axial direction thereof or in a direction in which the axis of the displaceable roll is inclined at a variable angle relative to other rolls as viewed in a horizontal plane, the other rolls being movable in the first direction. Position of the displaceable rolls is detected, and in dependence on the displacement of the displaceable roll, coefficient of mill stiffness of the whole rolling mill and those among the individual rolls are arithmetically determined. A roll gap defined between the rolls serving for rolling work is arithmetically determined on the basis of the arithmetically determined coefficients of stiffness, rolling load, and roll bending forces applied to the individual rolls detected by respective detectors.
