In the first mode, the notification unit notifies the management apparatus of the state of the electronic apparatus at predetermined timings or according to a change in the state. In the second mode, the recording unit records the state instead of transmitting the notification. The switching unit switches the control mode in response to an instruction from the management apparatus. Upon switching from the first mode to the second mode, the transmitting unit transmits switching information to the management apparatus. Upon reception of the switching information, the apparatus control unit switches the control mode of the relay apparatus so as to reduce the power consumption of the relay apparatus.
