  • Patent number: 5547264
Abstract: The invention is directed to an arrangement for controlling a braking force applied to a rear wheel in a certain relationship with a braking force applied to a front wheel, so as to provide an ideal braking force distribution. Pressure control valves are disposed in a hydraulic circuit which communicates a master cylinder with at least a rear wheel cylinder. There are provided an auxiliary power source for discharging a power pressure and a hydraulic booster for regulating the power pressure and actuating the master cylinder. A changeover valve is disposed between the master cylinder and the control valves, and selectively placed in one of a first operating position for communicating the control valves with the master cylinder and blocking the communication between the control valves and the hydraulic booster, and a second operating position for communicating the control valves with the hydraulic booster and blocking the communication between the control valves and the master cylinder.

  • Patent number: 5505532
Abstract: An anti-skid control for use in an automotive vehicle is comprised of a brake control device for adjusting braking force of each road-wheel of a vehicle, the brake control device being set to be initiated upon receipt of a condition, a detecting device being set to be initiated upon receipt of a condition, a detecting device for measuring a load applied to the vehicle, and a changing device for less sensitivity of the initiation of the brake control device as the load decreases. Even if an instantaneous decrease of the load occurs due to the vehicle's jumping motion or turning motion, an expected initiation of the brake operation can be prevented.

  • Patent number: 5494345
Abstract: In an electric control apparatus for a hydraulic brake control system of a vehicle, a feedback control portion is provided to produce a feedback control pulse signal indicative of a difference between a target slip ratio and an actual slip ratio. A feedforward control portion is provided to successively convert the target slip ratio in relation to a required braking force, a hydraulic braking pressure and an amount of hydraulic braking fluid, in sequence, and to convert the amount of hydraulic braking fluid into a feedforward control pulse signal. A pulse mixing circuit is connected to control portions to mix the control pulse signals for producing a mixed control pulse signal as a distinct control pulse signal. A driving circuit is connected to the pulse mixing circuit to control a hydraulic braking pressure applied to each wheel of the vehicle in accordance with the control pulse signal, regardless of the extent to which a brake pedal of the vehicle is depressed.

  • Patent number: 5390991
Abstract: An anti-skid control system for use in an automotive vehicle is comprises of a real slip rate detecting device for detecting a real slip rate of the vehicle, a target slip rate setting device for setting a target slip rate of the vehicle, a braking force control device for adjusting a braking force in such a manner that a deviation between the real slip rate and the target slip rate becomes zero, a load measuring device for measuring a load applied to the vehicle, an correcting device for adding a value to the control device which is the product of a coefficient and the deviation between the real slip rate and the target slip rate and a coefficient adjusting device for decreasing the coefficient as the load decreases. If the load decreases during the vehicle's travel, the coefficient to be multiplied to the deviation between the real slip rate and the target slip rate decreases. Thus the quantity to be subtracted from the braking force is decreased and the current braking force is hardly reduced.

  • Patent number: 5220506
Abstract: The invention is directed to an anti-skid control system for controlling a braking force applied to a road wheel with a hydraulic braking pressure supplied to a wheel brake cylinder through pressure control means. On the basis of a wheel speed of the road wheel detected by detecting means, a wheel acceleration and an estimated vehicle speed are calculated. A difference between the wheel speed and the estimated vehicle speed is calculated, and an integrated value thereof during a certain period is obtained. Then, a wheel lock rate indicative of a locking condition of the road wheel is set on the basis of the integrated value at least. Means is provided for setting an increasing time for increasing the hydraulic braking pressure and a holding time for holding it as it is with a proportion therebetween determined in response to a relationship between the wheel acceleration and the wheel lock rate, or setting a decreasing time and the holding time as well.

  • Patent number: 5176430
Abstract: The invention is directed to an anti-skid control system for controlling braking forces applied to road wheels with hydraulic braking pressure supplied from a master cylinder to wheel brake cylinders and controlled in response to braking condition of the road wheels. A wheel speed of at least one of the road wheels is detected to provide an output signal corresponding to the wheel speed. A hydraulic braking pressure supplied to each of the wheel brake cylinders is increased, held or decreased in response to a variation of the wheel speed. The hydraulic braking pressure supplied to each of the wheel brake cylinders is increased in response to a proportion between an increasing time for increasing the pressure and a holding time for holding the pressure. The increasing time provided for one of at least two wheel brake cylinders is prohibited from being coincident with the increasing time provided for the other.

  • Patent number: 5150952
Abstract: The invention is directed to an anti-skid control system for controlling a braking force applied to each of the road wheels with a hydraulic braking pressure supplied to a wheel brake cylinder through pressure control means. A wheel speed of each of the road wheels is detected. Then, an estimated vehicle speed for each of the road wheels is calculated on the basis of the wheel speed and a decreasing rate of estimated vehicle speed for at least one of the road wheels other than the road wheel for which the estimated vehicle speed is being calculated. The estimated vehicle speed is, therefore, prevented from being set largely below the actual speed of the vehicle. The pressure control means is provided for increasing, holding or decreasing the hydraulic braking pressure in response to a result of comparison between the estimated vehicle speed and the wheel speed for each of the road wheels.

  • Patent number: 5064253
Abstract: An anti-skid controlling apparatus which establishes the time allocation for the pressure decreasing time and decreased pressure holding time, as well as the time allocation for the pressure increasing time and increased pressure holding time, in accordance with the correlation between wheel acceleration and wheel lock level. The brake fluid pressure in the wheel cylinder is increased, held constant or decreased as needed. This makes it possible to establish optimal time allocation settings allowing for the pressure increasing and decreasing characteristics of the pressure controlling device. In turn, brake fluid pressure control is kept optimally provided independent of various factors that would affect the brake fluid pressure in the wheel cylinder. Thus the apparatus is suitable for use on board diverse kinds of vehicle with diverse characteristics.

  • Patent number: 5058018
Abstract: The invention is directed to an arrangement for controlling a braking force applied to each of right and left road wheels individually depending upon a braking condition, with a hydraulic braking pressure supplied to each of wheel brake cylinders through actuators respectively. The actuators are controlled by the braking force control system wherein output signals of wheel speed detectors are fed into first and second detecting circuits respectively by which the braking conditions of the road wheels are detected. Then, the detected signals are fed into a first driving circuit which produces driving signals fed to the actuators on the basis of an output signal fed from either of the detectors for one road wheel having a tendency to be locked first.

  • Patent number: 5015041
Abstract: An anti-skid control system for an automotive vehicle is provided with braking condition detectors for detecting at least a running condition of the vehicle in braking operation and producing a detected signal corresponding to the running condition. The detected signal is compared with a reference value to produce a braking condition signal. In response to the braking condition signal, selectively provided is one control mode of a simultaneous control mode for controlling simultaneously a braking force applied to both of a pair of right and left road wheels and an independent control mode for controlling independently a braking force applied to each of the right and left road wheels. Then, the braking force applied to the right and left road wheels is controlled in accordance with the control mode.
