    Abstract: The invention enables platform-independent sonar calibration. The associated systems and methods have application to underwater sonar systems and components, enabling an unprecedented flexibility in use. The systems and methods of the invention allow for efficient field calibration of sonars as configured for operational use, with high accuracy at low-cost. The invention provides in situ calibration capability for both stationary and moving sonar platforms and is suitable for calibration during operations.
