  • Patent number: 4486675
Abstract: A DC magnetic motor includes first and second stator plates each equipped with first and second commutating rings and four ferromagnetic bodies (e.g. steel) or permanent magnets positioned in quadrature with angularly adjacent permanent magnets having opposite polarities. A pair of rotor plates are fixedly coupled to a central shaft which is mounted for rotation in the stator plates. The rotor plates house a plurality of electromagnets which are energized by a plurality of pairs of brushes which are coupled to the rotor plates and slide along the commutating rings. The segments of the commutating rings are energized and organized such that each electromagnet will be attracted to the next ferromagnetic body. The magnetic field in the electromagnets is collapsed by gaps between segments of the rings during the time in which each electromagnet is rotating by the ferromagnetic body to which it was attracted after which the magnetic field in the electromagnet is reversed.

  • Patent number: 4186842
Abstract: A frusto-conical drinking cup which is open at the top and a lid which is removably attached thereto by a "snap" connection. The lid comprises a top wall and an annular skirt depending therefrom. This lid is of a flexible plastic having the property of elasticity to a high degree. It is formed with a slit in close proximity to its periphery and cut on the bias to provide a drinking opening when the lid material is depressed. It is also formed with a straight slit at a site diametrically opposite to the drinking opening and spaced inwardly from the periphery a greater distance than the drinking valve opening. This lid provides a relief valve when the lid is depressed. The lid is fairly thin and is formed with a generally circular reinforcing rib spaced from its periphery and another reinforcing rib between the slit and arranged diametrically of the lid.

  • Patent number: 4136799
Abstract: A decanter for hot or cold liquids, comprising a cylindrical receptacle having an open top and a cover detachably mounted on the receptacle at its open top. The cover consists of an upper annulus and a skirt of larger diameter than the annulus and connected thereto by a shoulder. Portions of the skirt and the annulus are spaced apart to provide a groove which receives the upper edge portion of the receptacle with a sealing fit. A top wall is integral with the annulus and is tilted with respect to a plane normal to the axis of the receptacle. This top wall is formed with a drinking opening adjacent its periphery and a relief vent diametrically opposed to the drinking opening and also adjacent to the periphery of the top wall. Depending from the inner face of the top wall and between the drinking opening and vent are a pair of spaced posts.

  • Patent number: 4133446
Abstract: A cover for a drinking vessel of heat-insulating material comprising a cylindrical wall with elements at its lower end which cooperate with complemental elements at the upper end of a drinking vessel to provide a detachable bayonet joint. Integral with the upper end portion of the cylindrical wall is an inclined flat wall formed with a drinking opening and a relief vent in diametric alignment. Depending from the inclined wall substantially midway between said opening and vent are a pair of spaced lugs each having a journal recess opening onto its lower edge. A lever has a pair of studs extending from its opposite side faces and received in said recesses with snap fits. Upstanding from one end of the lever is an arm which projects through the drinking opening and carries a valve member on its upper end which is of greater extent than said drinking opening and normally engages the upper surface of the inclined wall about the drinking opening.

  • Patent number: 3972443
Abstract: A drinking receptacle provided with a generally cup-like body and an enclosing cover removably coupled to the top portion and upper open end of the cup-like body; the cover having a drinking or outlet opening near the peripheral rim thereof; and a finger operated valve adapted to open and close said drinking or outlet opening whereby the receptacle may contain hot or cold beverages therein and the valve prevents spillage of said beverages at times when beverages are not being poured or drunk from said drinking or outlet opening. The finger operated valve having an actuator portion reciprocally mounted in the side of the cover or in the side of the drinking receptacle and being coupled directly to and integral with the valve whereby pressure on the actuator by a persons finger may directly open the valve in such a manner as to allow liquid to pass through said drinking or outlet opening.

  • Patent number: 3967748
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a drinking receptacle and valve means wherein: hot or cold liquids may be safely contained and carried during intermittent drinking such that the liquids cannot be spilled and in the case of hot liquids the valve means is manually operable to open the drinking valve to allow drinking of liquid from the receptacle or container. The valve means comprising a lost motion mechanism coupled with a manually operable plunger such that the manually operable plunger first opens a relief valve to relieve steam and pressure from the interior of the container whereupon the plunger continues its motion to open the drinking valve so as to allow drinking of contents from the receptacle after steam and pressure has been relieved therefrom and to thereby avoid the danger of causing hot coffee or other beverages to gush from the drinking valve when opened.

The finger operated valve having an actuator reciprocally mounted in the side of the cover and having wedge like actuator structure as well as a finger operating abutment adapted wedgingly to move an arm of said valve away from a lower side of said cover and for actuating a resilient finger on said arm to thereby move a poppet head portion of said valve away from said opening for allowing contents to be poured through said opening and drunk at the rim of said cover.
